There’s so much about these photos I love. Honestly, the entire gallery.

I feel like I’m cheating on past clients, because after every shoot I say “I think this is my favourite shoot ever!” And I genuinely mean it every time.

But this one. This age. Where they grab everything (especially your hair!) You don’t notice it at the time, but eventually they stop. Those tiny 6-month-old fists, I’ll forever capture them. Because one day those little fists grow bigger and start reaching for things outside your little bubble.

That’s pregnancy, isn’t it.
You’re still fully yourself, and at the same time, you’re becoming someone’s entire universe.
Two worlds living in the same body, at the same time, in the same breath.

I shot this series years ago on a simple waterproof Kodak in a warm indoor pool. 

Just water and a mama (and dada!) brave enough to trust my vision.

Your baby has only ever known water. Warmth. The muffled rhythm of your heartbeat. The gentle pressure of being held on all sides.

Nobody asked for these.

My clients rarely know I’m taking them. They’re micro moments. Between prompts, between rooms, between the big laughs and the posed shots.

During a shoot there are the “big moments.” The child thrown in the air. The family bursting into laughter. But then there’s these.

Captured while walking from one room to the next, or right after I say “that’s great, we’re all done!”
You relax. I snap.

I’ve been thinking about how we see motherhood.

I captured the gorgeous .louise__ in bloom recently on a private property in the Macedon Ranges.

We worked through three stages of light, golden hour, blue hour, and darkness.

This is After Dark [captured with flash].

We often default to the softer version of motherhood. But pregnancy isn’t one thing, it shifts, it transforms.

No matter what that looks like for you.

This series follows pregnancy through three stages of light, echoing the three trimesters it moves through.
