The Urban Sparrow Photography

The Urban Sparrow Photography Family, Wedding & Business Branding Photographer based in the Macedon Ranges. I’m a visual storyteller. It’s not about focusing on making things perfect.

I’m there to capture the hick-ups, fun, laughter, tears and organic moments that come together to create beautiful and honest photographic stories about people and places. It’s about capturing the true essence of you…

It breaks my heart hearing about the floods in the Himalayas. I feel for the beautiful people and communities, and the heartache ripping through them right now. It's taken me days to find the words and to think of a way I can help from afar.

After my first trip there years ago, Nepal instantly found a place deep in my heart. It was there that I truly understood the meaning of humble. The Nepalese people and their awe-inspiring mountains move together in a beautiful, calm rhythm… warm smiles, open hearts, children laughing & running freely through villages. Every person welcomed me in like family. Sitting around kitchen fires, sharing stories with sometimes very limited language between us, yet somehow connected through smiles, laughter and a quiet, gentle admiration for each other.

At first I thought the people I met didn't have much. But I quickly realised they were living with something so many of us spend a lifetime searching for. Nepal gave me so much, and I have always wanted to find a way to give something back. I'm not ignoring the fact that there is poverty and many issues they face… But for those affected by these floods, I fear their incredible resilience will be shattered.

A few days ago I was so relieved to finally hear Nakkal's voice (pictured left in the 1st pic). My wonderful Sherpa on my second trek to Annapurna Base Camp. Knowing he and his family are safe lifted so much from my heart. I still have no way of reaching Saila (also pictured) and others I met along the way, but I hold onto hope. Those two were like angels on those mountains. Guiding me, keeping me safe, and introducing me to many beautiful people.

My time in Nepal was mostly in Kathmandu and the Annapurna region. I only ever passed through parts of the flood-affected areas briefly, years ago. But I can't begin to imagine what those communities are facing right now, and my heart is with every single one of them.

🙏 A small way to help from here...

From my travels in the Annapurna region, I've pulled together a small collection of photographs that have never left me. Ive turned them into beautiful folded cards, sold in packs, to raise money for Nepal flood relief. All 5 images are from the Annapurna region (not the flood-affected areas) but each one is a reminder of the breathtaking beauty of Nepal, and every pack sold puts money directly where it's needed most.

Two pack options (please also note different pickup/delivery options):

🌿 PACK OF 5 — 5 different images, one of each
* $25 — Collection in Gisborne, VIC (Details TBC)
* $35 — Posted anywhere in Australia

🏔️ PACK OF 10 — 5 images, 2 of each
* $40 — Collection in Gisborne, VIC (Details TBC)

This is a 2-week fundraiser. At the end of the campaign I will place a print order and get your cards out to you as quickly as possible. Local collection details in Gisborne will be confirmed closer to the end of the campaign.

Once all cards have been delivered and the donation has been transferred, I will post a full update on how much was raised. I want you to know exactly where your money went. 🙏

There's something I'll always love about outdoor portraits — the way nature gives you mood, texture, and a kind of quiet magic you can't create anywhere else.

This one felt especially special: deep earthy greens, soft shadow, and those gorgeous long red curls catching the light just enough to glow.

A reminder that beauty doesn't need a bright setting to shine. Sometimes it looks best wrapped in green, shadow, and a little mystery.

Four souls. Four stories worn on their heads. A sharp bob, long curls, beautiful dreads and a man who lets the mist do the talking.

This family, stood looking into the cloud roll along the road together. And I just... let the moment breathe.

This is what I love most about what I do. Finding the beauty in the in-between moments. A family, together, on a cloud-kissed morning at the top of one of my favourite places. That is everything.

Shot at the top of Mount Macedon on one of those beautiful mornings where the clouds come all the way down to meet you. Every weather is a gift up here. But the mist? The mist is something else entirely.

To the Matriarch who asked me to capture every hairstyle in the family... this one is for you. 🖤

It's always an absolute treat photographing for Hepburn Bathhouse & Spa, and especially for Pavilion Cafe. Chef Caliopi Buck's dishes are as beautiful as they are delicious, and the newly refurbished interiors have given the cafe such a warm, moody and welcoming feel.

Set in the heart of Hepburn Springs, Hepburn Pavilion Cafe is a gorgeous place to pause and enjoy breakfast, lunch or a long afternoon tea. With local produce, relaxed dining and that unforgettable Devonshire tea with scones and jam, it's a destination well worth visiting, whether you are heading to the bathhouse or just looking for a beautiful place to drop in.

There is a certain kind of magic in the way a child looks at their Dad. It is a mix of pure hero-worship, absolute safety, and a whole lot of love. These are the heart-bursting moments that make up the beautiful story of your life, but they often pass by in the blink of an eye.

With Father's Day approaching, I have been thinking about the legacy we leave behind in photos. Instead of something that sits on a shelf, why not gift him a morning of adventure in the stunning Macedon Ranges? A chance to slow down, breathe in the fresh air, and capture the raw, honest connection between him and the ones he loves most.

My gift vouchers are officially available for family sessions. Whether you are a local family here in our beautiful Ranges or you want to treat Dad to a special day trip out from the city, I would be so honoured to tell your story through my lens.

Let’s capture the magic together. Head to www.theurbansparrow.com or send me a DM to secure a voucher.
