You can tell I’ve been busy down in The Coorong region of South Australia today. I took quite a few photos that I’ll be processing over the coming days. I have absolutely no idea what these little birds are and they were little and seemed to spook at a gust of wind. All I know is they are a kind of wading bird. Hopefully someone can help me id them and I’ll update the post when I know. If you know feel free to post a comment and receive my many thanks as a reward.

Update: I’ve been reliably informed that these little birds are Red-necked Stints.

Another image from today. I’m not sure but I think this one might be a Petrel of some kind. Again I found it in The Coorong today. Unfortunately it came up from behind me and I only noticed in time to get a view from the rear and it never came back for a second attempt. If anyone recognises the exact species please drop a comment and let me know. Much appreciated. I’ll update the post when I find out what my feathered friend is.

Update: I think this one was wishful thinking. It’s actually a juvenile Pacific Gull.

Update: This good Tern is a juvenile Great Crested Tern.

Earlier this year I went on my first trip into the Capertee Valley region of NSW in search of birds to photograph. This Jacky Winter landed on the tip of the tallest dead branch of the tree and alerted us to its presence with a pretty song.
