Back home on the Gold Coast, just in time to celebrate our girl turning 9 yesterday ✨ After a whole year away, it felt extra special to be here for her birthday.

This past year has been a whirlwind of building houses in Samoa… heads down, island life in full swing. After 12 months without a Woolies run, Eva’s birthday wish was pretty simple: a supermarket trip for fresh blueberries and sushi for lunch 😆🙌

Her day started and ended at the beach - exactly where she’s happiest.

Eva, you are our sunshine ☀️ the kindest, most thoughtful soul we’ve ever known. We love you endlessly 💛🌸

Five months into island life, and we’ve fully embraced the slow rhythm…so much that we’ve only posted once since we arrived (for Harper’s 9th birthday, of course) 😂

While we’re still juggling homeschooling and managing the build of three holiday homes, the girls have found their own little tribe of friends, and we’ve even adopted a stray cat named Moon 🐈‍⬛🌙

There are plenty of challenges, and we do miss some comforts of home, but being here, deepening our connection to Samoa, makes this chapter of island life something we already know we’ll look back on as the good ol’ days 🏝️✌️

Merry tropical Christmas from Koh Samui, Thailand - where we’re lucky to be right now and number 7 on our countdown of favourite places of 2022 ✨

While Santa’s been busy on his big red sleigh, we’ve been happy to just “sabai sabai” - which means just relax in Thai - on our big red kayak ☺️

After weeks of rain and storms each day, the sun has just come out to play and it looks like the rainy season is finally over! Koh Samui is Thailand’s second largest island and absolutely gorgeous when the sun is shining. Here’s a good tip, check when the monsoon season ends before booking an island destination 🤣

Where are you spending Christmas today? We’d love to know!🎄❤️

Hello again Tropical North Queensland! 🌴 Just kidding…this is still Hoi An, Vietnam!

And guess what? There’s no crocs 🐊 here 😅🙌

Not only does Hoi An offer the charm and history of an ancient town, it’s also an inviting beach destination 💙 Seriously so much to love about this place!

📍 Cua Dai Beach - this is not Hoi An’s most popular beach and that’s exactly we love it. Most people who visit Hoi An head straight to An Bang beach but Cua Dai is much quieter and a lot prettier in our opinion 😊

If you ask our girls what the biggest downside to travelling full time is, they’ll say it’s not being able to have a pet.

So when a stranger in Hoi An asked if they’d like to look after this sweet little puppy for a few hours, they couldn’t have been more excited! 🥰

The stranger didn’t think much of it, but this little act of kindness meant so much to our girls and is one of the reasons why they’ll always remember this town now!

It truly is a special place filled with beautiful, friendly people (and puppies 🐶) 💛

Hoi An 💛

With its yellow buildings covered in colourful lanterns and ancient beauty, how can you not fall in love with this town in central Vietnam!

Unlike other Vietnamese cities where crossing the road is a death-defying act 🤣, it’s refreshing to find a place with a much slower pace.

The old town is closed to motorised traffic for large parts of the day and night making it the perfect place to pedal around 🙌

It’s also one of the few places in Vietnam that is protected from development so it oozes a unique charm that is hard to find these days. So much love for this special place 🤩

When life actually feels like a dream ✨ Walking into our room on board the beautiful for the first time, hearing our girls laughing with excitement on the balcony and feeling so incredibly grateful for the journey ahead 💙☺️

Three magical days cruising Ha Long Bay 🥰✨

Home to about 2000 small islands, as well as caves, hidden lakes, dramatic limestone pillars, beaches and lagoons, this part of Vietnam is an absolute must-see 😍

We began our days with sunrise Tai Chi before kayaking empty bays, exploring caves, visiting floating fishing villages, feasting on local seafood and witnessing mind-blowing sunsets. It was a truly special experience and better than we could’ve ever imagined ☺️🙌

Our around the world budget - Week Four 🌎

📍Sanur and Nusa Lembongan, Indonesia🇮🇩

🛌 Accomodation: $416 AUD

Nothing beats finding accommodation that’s clean, has a pool, daily breakfast, friendly staff and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg! And somehow we managed to find not one but two great digs during week 4. Enter The Bali Bubble at Sanur - this Aussie-owned hotel isn’t super fancy but it ticked all our boxes. We stayed in a one-bedroom apartment here before heading over to the Damara Lembongan at Nusa Lembongan.

🥘 Food/Drink: $603 AUD

If there’s one thing we did well this week, it was eat! 😋 But the budget bled because of it! Our favourite restaurant this week was Shotgun Social in Sanur. With amazing food and an adventure playground for the kids, it kept luring us back.

🚙 Transport: $248 AUD

Three words. Taxis kill budgets! This week included a few too many taxi rides, motorbike hire (at the end of the week) and a return boat trip to Nusa Lembongan. If we had a time machine, we’d go back to the start of week four (actually back to the start of our Bali trip) and tell ourselves get a scooter ASAP 🤣

👕 Miscellaneous: $277 AUD

This included a one-day snorkelling tour to see Manta Rays and new clothes for the wildlings.

💵 Total: $1544 AUD
