Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Southeast Queensland

parts of Scenic Rim and Gold Coast Council Areas.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 7:50 pm, a severe thunderstorm likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding was detected near Maroon Dam, Laravale and Kooralbyn. This thunderstorm is moving towards the east. It is forecast to affect Rathdowney by 8:20 pm and Beaudesert and Canungra by 8:50 pm.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Warwick, Clifton and Allora. Severe Thunderstorm Warning for DAMAGING WINDS and LARGE HAILSTONES Issued at 5:17 pm Monday, 26 January 2026. Emergency services advise people to:

* Park your car undercover away from trees.

* Close doors and windows.

* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.

* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.

* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.

* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.

* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.

* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed. The next warning is due to be issued by 8:20 pm. Check https://www.bom.gov.au/weather-and-climate/warnings-and-alerts. Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and emergency services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.

Well, yesterday brought severe weather into the SEQLD.

I managed to watch a supercell from out of nowhere to the west of Lake Moogera
And was going to keep chasing it, as it was looking to die out, but it decided to take off again. Looked impressive on the backside, and epic b***y clouds in the anvil.

But I was more interested in storms to the south; there was a severe cell that turned into a squall line on the border rangers , with a real good gust out with stunning whale's mouth at woodhill.

A lot of inner could lightning with that big gust out some short power outages.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning for LARGE HAILSTONES, HEAVY RAINFALL and DAMAGING WINDS Issued at 1:38 pm Saturday, 17 January 2026. Emergency services advise people to:

* Park your car undercover away from trees.

* Close doors and windows.

* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
