Syvannah & Alana decided to get married and throw a party at their favourite restaurant, Rick Shores, right on the beach at Burleigh. To my delight, they asked me to capture their big day. This incredible restaurant holds a special place in my heart as it was where I first met my partner. I was also excited by the fact that I might actually get to snag a famous Bug Roll while on the tools. These tasty little morsels are pretty much heaven on a brioche bun and very much the reason why I use to spend every Sunday there on the patio.

But this post isn’t about me, or Bug Rolls; it’s about true love. A love moulded by laughter, strengthened with values and rooted with deep connection. A love encapsulated by an undenied energy. A love that no one was going to stand in the way of, not even a concerned mutual friend was going to extinguish these sparks. This love is the real deal.

Syvannah & Alana love each other to no end and decided to celebrate with award winning food, delectable cocktails, their closest family and friends, and one hell of a view! It’s in these moments you ask yourself “Does life get any better?”

Girls, thanks so much for having me capture your day. Oh, and thanks for the Bug Roll :p

Where to begin with Jess & Elliot? Ok, I’ll just be out with it. Their wedding was friggin’ amazing. I got there early. Being at Victoria’s in Byron Bay, I knew I didn’t want to miss a thing. It’s all about content, content, content in this game so it helps when the venue is absolutely stunning and the entire wedding is happening onsite.

But a beautiful venue doesn’t mean a thing without the energy of amazing people. Jess & Elliot were firing on all cylinders, as their guest’s shovelled coal into the furnace of this high intensity love train. With Jess & Elliot at the controls of this raging locomotive, it really was full steam ahead!

Now, this film has nothing to do with trains but it just seemed like the perfect metaphor to describe this wedding. It really was a wild ride from beginning to end, with pockets of deep sentiment and raw emotion.

I had so much fun with these two. Everyone was so warm and welcoming. Both families coming together to create a rich and loving atmosphere. Oh, and English lads know how to have a laugh (at the grooms expense.) This wedding had it all and I’m truly grateful to be the person chosen to wave the camera around all day.

Jess & Elliot, thanks so much for being amazing people and welcoming me into your lives to capture your incredibly epic day.

Joanne & Ian share a unique story. Both unlucky in love (to put it lightly,) they experienced hardship, stress and heart break in their previous relationships. So when they came to meet by luck, chance, fate or destiny, their past experiences formed their admiration and respect for one another which eventually blossomed into a deep and meaningful love; truly evident in this wedding film.

It makes me tear up to know what they’ve endured, but I also feel great elation for their journey and where they are now. I’ll let their wedding film tell the rest of the story. True love always wins.

Thanks so much for having me guys.

A little behind the scenes action from yesterday's location shoot, lol! Featuring the super cruisy, quirky and calm bride and groom, Shelby & Chris, and a few curious cows 🐮

While on our wedding location shoot, a group of curious cows decided to join us. They tried stealing the brides veil and then told us to leave.

Byron Bay, how I love filming weddings here. Rain or sunshine, this beautiful part of the planet always seems to deliver the goods. And let me tell you, we had a good amount of both on this day. But a great love story doesn’t just need a stunning backdrop; it requires a stunning couple as well. I was blessed with both on this occasion, as I regularly am.

Julia & Scott reside a bit further north, and when we met on Skype we instantly hit it off. They both have warm, friendly personalities and radiated good vibes throughout our entire chat. The rapport between us in the meeting transitioned seamlessly to their wedding day, as these two served me up infectious, natural energy; etching themselves onto the sensor of my camera and inevitably onto the screen with this wedding film I present to you.

Though one person may capture this film, these shots aren’t possible without an amazing team of vendors. These are the professionals who work tirelessly on the day to make sure the couple have the best day of their lives. They are the people who make shots pretty with flowers, they create delicious food and a warm atmosphere, they welcome you into their venue and play as a team to ensure you get the shots you need, they share the space with you on a location shoot and hold an umbrella over your camera as the rain comes down, they let you put a mic on them to capture clean audio at the ceremony, and they bring the vibes as they beat the drums and sing their heart out. These people are the filling in this love sandwich and I loved working with every single one of them.

Julia and Scott, thank you. Thank you for being you. Thank you for the invite and for trusting me to capture your epic wedding day.

This is a special one. Brittany and Daniel contacted me all the way from Vancouver, Canada. Brittany being this sweet, petite Canadian and Daniel, a good ol’ Aussie bloke. The idea: to get married on a beach at North Stradbroke Island surrounded only by their closest family and friends. No plans, no timings, no agenda, no fuss. Just two people rocking up at a place dear to their hearts, to express and share the love they have for each other; How beautiful, right?

The brief: Bring your camera, spare your shoes, and create us a wedding film with the same energy as your others. That simple! So that’s what I did.

I love this film so much as I feel it sits right at the core of why I do what I do. It’s not about the flowers, the cake, the table runners, the wedding favours, or any of the other temporary luxuries that last only the life of your wedding day. It’s about sharing love and laughter and creating memories.

Being entrusted to capture this moment in time is a great responsibility but a massive privilege at the same time. Brittany & Daniel, thank you so much for the honour.

Much love,

Lance

Boomerang Farm on the Gold Coast is such an intimate location to get married. Couple this with sunshine, a cool breeze, breaching whales witnessed from the 30th floor of your preparations apartment, and you’ve set the stage for one magnificent wedding day. All we needed was one quirky, fun loving couple to bring this wedding video to life. Avril & Mattie certainly delivered the goods. Smiles, laughs and good vibes a plenty. Even loved ones flying internationally to bare witness to this honest, whole-hearted love. Geez it was a fun day!

5 years ago I picked up a camera and decided to film weddings. Naive, young (sort of,) and in desperate need of a change in my life, I embarked on this industry with no real understanding, but with a strong desire to create story driven video content; I just went for it.

I was drawn to this style early but left it behind for a more cinematic approach that BMH has become known for. Today I return to where it all began with a developed skill set, along with the same love for telling a couples story, which has been there since the beginning.

I hope you enjoy.
