I watched it unfold in a matter of minutes in my paddock. This lace monitor, also commonly known as a goanna, climbed up a tree and made a meal from a bird’s nest. This is only nature doing what it has always done. The monitor eventually left with a full belly, unbothered and satisfied. As horrific as it might be, the nest was used by Indian Miners, an invasive pest to Australia.

Quick note: In my rush to grab the shots, I completely forgot to adjust my camera settings, so a few didn’t turn out quite how I’d hoped. One of those moments where photography is equal parts preparation and luck.

I've been watching this little family of Noicy Miners over the past month. They decided to nest in one of our smaller trees, right at the perfect height for photos. It's been an interesting experiance seeing them grow. The parents have een amazing too, alerting us not one, not twice, but three times when brown snakes came a bit too close. Thanks to their warnings, I was able to get my dog and cat inside safetly. I'll always be grateful to share the space with them. ❤️

A very interesting discovery today. I managed to get some photos of this galah with a colour mutation, also known as a 'Lutino Galah'. I don't know a lot, but from what I've read, it's not common to see these in the wild. Unsure if the flock will hang around but will keep an eye open for this one.

It's an ongoing journey of practice and exploration in nature. Some attempts are successful, others are not, but that's all part of the process, relying on patience, timing, and a bit of luck to find the right subject. I truly enjoy working on these projects and sharing them. 🥰

BIG4 Breeze Holiday Parks - Cania Gorge
A Beautiful place to visit. 🌿

'A flash of color, swift and bright,
birds dancing in morning light.
Soft red earth, a golden sky,
Kangaroos bound and leaping high.
A land of wonders, wild and free,
Australia’s heart in bush and tree.'

"Why don't you watermark your photos?"

I choose not to use watermarks on my photos for a few key reasons. First, from an artistic standpoint, I believe a watermark detracts from the overall composition and impact of the image. Photography is about storytelling, emotion, and aesthetics, and adding a watermark can interfere with the viewer’s experience. It draws attention away from the subject and can disrupt the balance of the photo.

Second, with the advancement of AI and modern editing tools, watermarks are easier than ever to remove. What once served as a deterrent to image theft is now a minor inconvenience for someone determined to take an image. Because of this, I don’t see much value in using a watermark as a protective measure.
