I'm Kate and I've photographed North Shore families for 23 years. Newborns, babies, maternity, kids, extended families and dogs. Nothing is posed.

My Gordon studio feels more like a home than a studio, so everyone relaxes. Sessions run under an hour. Looking back at their childhood, what do you hope they remember? You may not be able to bottle that thing that makes them irresistible but you can capture it and print it.

über photography is located at Gordon, on Sydney's North Shore. It is run by a husband and wife team, Kate & Chris Buechner

. Why should you choose über photography? Kate is a mum to 3 kids of her own Felix 17, Max 15 and Millie 12 and her dog Immy and cat Sarah. As a mum she understands ways to help you relax and have fun with your kids. Kate's passion is photographing families in a natural way. She is able to capture the personalities of your kids through her photographs. Her ability to connect with your family means that she capture images that are a true reflection of your family. Kate is an associate of the AIPP. What does that mean for you? It means that she is bound by a code of ethics, she is required to have insurance, and continue with ongoing training. For you that means protection, and that you are dealing with an ethical photographer. She was won numerous awards at both state and National level with the AIPP, and has been a judge for the NSW AIPP awards for 2014/2015/2016, Queensland AIPP awards 2016 and National AIPP photography awards 2016. She won the AIPP NSW Family Photographer of the Year in 2011. She was awarded the Henry Talbot Award for service the to the AIPP in 2015. She was the NSW AIPP president from 2012-2014 and served on the NSW AIPP council from 2008-2014.

2023 to 2026, and I've now had the pleasure of photographing this family's newborn twice.

Their first baby was just days old in that first photo, and now he's a proper little boy standing there meeting his new baby sibling. It's such a lovely thing to be trusted with this milestone a second time, and even lovelier watching how quickly that first baby has grown.

This is one of the best parts of newborn photography for me. Sometimes I get to come back and do it all again.

This family brought so much humour into the studio, and honestly it made the whole session.

Four kids, a lot of giggling and genuinely one of the funniest sessions I've had in a while. We got the full group together and a few different combinations along the way, but it's the laughing ones that always end up being everyone's favourites.

New baby, one very excited big brother and two parents soaking up every bit of it.

I always love it when the older kids get properly involved in a newborn session. There's nothing quite like watching a sibling meet the new baby for the first time, all cheeky grins and curious little hands wanting to touch those tiny fingers and toes. It adds a whole different kind of joy to the session.

I've been photographing this family longer than almost any other client I've got. It started back in 2014, when I shot their wedding.

Since then they've come back to me every couple of years, and I've had the pleasure of watching their two kids go from babies to the almost grown up humans they are now. This year there was a new addition too, a puppy who's very clearly already part of the family.

This is genuinely one of my favourite things about this job. Getting to watch a family grow over so many years, and seeing just how fast the kids change between each session. Below is a look at their albums from every session along the way, twelve years in one place.

Three little boys in matching outfits on the bed, and honestly, this is exactly the kind of session I love.

Getting young brothers to sit still together for even a minute is no small feat, but this lot made it easy. Simple outfits, a comfy bed and three genuinely happy little faces.

Sometimes that's all you need.

New parents, new baby boy, and that particular kind of quiet that comes with the very early days.

I love this stage of newborn sessions. Everyone's still working out how to hold him, still a bit in awe that he's actually here. You can see it in every photo, that careful, gentle way new parents move around their baby in those first weeks.

This is exactly why I love this part of the job.

Not long to go for this pair, and I loved every minute of this session.

Maternity sessions are different to every other type I shoot. There's less noise, less movement, just the two of them and a whole new chapter about to begin. You can see it in the way he looks at her, the way she holds that bump like she already knows him or her.

This is one of my favourite parts of the job. Getting to be there right before everything changes.

2018 to 2026. Same family, same warmth, three kids who've grown an enormous amount and a new addition to the family who wasn't around back then either.

Eight years between these two sessions. Look at that photo on the left and then the one on the right, it's a proper reminder of how much can change in less time than you'd think.

This is exactly why I always encourage families to get this done regularly, not just once. The kids keep growing, the family keeps changing, and it's worth having the proof of each stage.
