I came across this view in Dinner Plain, Victorian High Country, Australia and wanted to share it. A bleached, gnarled trunk lies across a windswept plain beneath a broad pewter sky. Victoria High Country, Australia 2: Snow Gums, Victorian High, Australia. I wanted the scene to feel pared back, with a strong central gum trunk, twisted limbs and a rhythm of trunks receding into a pale distance. The palette is restrained, ivory, pale tan and slate with warm ochre in the exposed bark against cool snow. Light is soft and even, so texture and line stand out more than contrast.
