Tasmania holds a special place in my heart. Thanks to having family who lived there, I was fortunate enough to visit there several times when I was a child. These photos of Sandy Bay are from a more recent trip I took with my wife. I particularly love the silhouetted father and son playing on the beach.

I love this frozen moment and how the wave dipping into the footprints looks like the hem of a single garment.

The footprints always remind me of the poem "Footprints in the Sand." Do you know it?
One night I dreamed a dream.
As I was walking along the beach with my Lord.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
One belonging to me and one to my Lord.

After the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at many times along the path of my life,
especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
there was only one set of footprints.

This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,
You'd walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me."

He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you
Never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you."

Horsehoe Falls, Hazelbrook

My supervisor grew up in the Blue Mountains. He has shown me and other team members some wonderful places there where you won't find crowds of tourists. This is one of them.

I thought it was only in movies that people found spaces hidden behind waterfalls. I'm fairly sure my camera's battery ran out shortly after I took this photo because I don't have any taken from the other side. But I'm thankful I got this one shot. For me, the curtain of gently falling water has captured the soft light perfectly. The picture is as peaceful and serene as it was to stand there... I really should go back there again.

I wish I could remember what happened to this Noisy Miner Bird. I came outside one day to find it sitting on the steps, looking quite unwell. It didn't startle or fly away, so I'm guessing nature eventually took its course.

Nanna's Rose

I remember my Nanna with great fondness. She was full of warmth, patience and kindness, and she always had time for everyone. Loved oozed from her. A love which I know came from Jesus, whom she adored.

I am proud to be her grandson and look forward to the day I will see her again.

This is one of my top favourites from our trip to Tasmania a few years ago. I couldn't tell you if this is the trunk of a Huon Pine or just a really big gum tree. Either way, I love the sheer size of it! Who knows how old it is and how long that moss has been growing on it? Certainly, a lot longer than I've been alive!

Something I am particularly pleased with is the colours and lighting - the rich greens of the forest floor and with a depth to the photo that I had often struggled to capture before!
