I've just picked Dobby up from its first borrower (who has confirmed they're going to buy their own scope after using this one) it'll be off to the next house after I check mirror collimation etc. If you'd like to be next in line send me a message or comment here. This 3rd person can quite possibly have an extended borrow of about 5weeks starting in a couple weeks time while I'm away so hit me up. It's free to borrow remember. Comes with everything needed, eyepieces, star maps, red torch etc. Dont hesitate.

Couple of images from last night. Started shooting at about 9:30 and ran through till about 1am. Nice to get a little weather window although shooting RGB images while the moon is up isn't very good.

Not using a telescope for these photos but a dslr camera lens at 150mm with a small colour Astro camera.

Shooting 60sec subs, about 1 hr for the dark doodad nebula, 10min for the lagoon and trifid nebulas and 15min for the globular cluster omega centauri.

Important day tmrw for the Australian space industry. Here's hoping they get a good amount of info from the test flight. Will it make it all the way? Aussies have a way of pulling of some pretty amazing things.

Comet A3 (tsuchinshan-atlas)

Converted some data from last year into a gif to show it's movement over a 20-25min period.

All of the quick flashes are satellites

We had a nice moon halo rainbow last night. My partner in crime Rachel took this one.

The halo is a result of moonlight refracting through ice crystals in the atmosphere

Dusty Southern Skies

A large expanse of interstellar dust called a dark nebula. The dark skies out west provide a great place to capture these objects as they are an especially difficult target from brighter suburban skies.
