🌟 Top tips for helping a new kitten feel settled 🌟
Welcoming a new kitten into your home is an exciting time and their early life experiences can have a lasting impact. Here are some top tips to help you set up the best life for them:
🔹Kittens should be confined to a quiet, safe room for the first few weeks, filled with all the items they’ll need: food and water bowls, a bed, a litter tray, toys, hiding places and a scratching post. Remove all potentially breakable and hazardous items.
🔹It's tempting to shower your new kitten with attention, but let them set the pace - interact when they're awake, curious, and when they choose to come to you.
🔹Play is an essential part of a kitten’s development. Wand toys are a great safe way to play together and help build a positive bond.
🔹Kittens need lots of sleep for both their brain and physical development, so try not to disturb their rest!
Leave their cat carrier, with the door removed, out in the home for them to retreat to or play inside. Comfy bedding and toys inside can help them learn positive associations with the carrier, which can help reduce stress while travelling.
🔹When your kitten starts exploring, make sure they still have a quiet place to retreat to and access to all their resources, especially if there are children or other animals in the home.
Enjoy your new fluffball! 😻
