Yesterday I captured a series of images for the Australian Financial Review in relation to their story released today on the ongoing Wolgan valley road issues. This will be available to read in full in their newspaper tomorrow from newsagents and supermarkets.

For three years, Wolgan Valley was cut off and the Emirates resort forced to close as disaster funding was put toward a new road. Turns out the old one was just fine.

Carne Wall Landslide-Blackheath, NSW 2025
I'd been working in Blackheath the last couple of days shooting business headshots for a client at Parklands, so it was a good opportunity to go and take a couple of quick snaps of the recent landslide in the area. Apparently overnight 1-2 of August, some 200,000 cubic metres of sandstone came plummeting down off Carne Wall into the Blue Mountains National park below...

Ben Pearse-Community Portrait Project 2025
In conjunction with the opening of the Blue Mountains portrait exhibition 2025, we set up a portrait studio at the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre and here is a small selection of the community we captured over 2 days.
You can see all of the 120 portraits via an outdoor nightly projection at the Civic Place in Katoomba from 7.30pm-9.30pm. You can also see the portraits on a digital display inside the Cultural Centre.This local community portrait project will be on display 7 days a week until 13th April 2025.
Huge thanks to everyone involved and to those who came and sat for a portrait.

In conjunction with the opening of the Blue Mountains Portrait 2025 at the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre this Friday 14th February, I'll be setting up a portrait studio where the public can come and get a free portrait.
