๐€ ๐Ÿ๐ข๐ซ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐ฆ๐ž - ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ฐ๐ก๐š๐ญ ๐š ๐Ÿ๐ข๐ง๐! ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸคŽ

We spent a few nights in ๐–๐š๐ฅ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฅ๐ž as a base to explore the surrounds. Itโ€™s still a little early for the native orchids, but there were already hammer orchids, snails, and lots of pink fairies just starting to emerge.

My favourite find on the first day was this gorgeous ๐ฐ๐š๐ซ๐ญ๐ฒ ๐ก๐š๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ž๐ซ ๐จ๐ซ๐œ๐ก๐ข๐ - my first ever! Just check out its warts! The orchid numbers may not be here just yet, but thatโ€™s the beauty of orchid huntingโ€ฆ you never know what you might stumble across.

Thereโ€™s always something interesting hiding out there. ๐ŸŒฑโœจ

The red and yellow tingle trees of the Walpole-Nornalup area are simply incredible. Some are enormous, ancient and beautifully weathered - and then thereโ€™s ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ ๐ข๐š๐ง๐ญ, hollowed out yet still standing strong and thriving.

They really are a sight to behold. Thereโ€™s something pretty humbling about standing beside trees that have been here for generations.

Hereโ€™s hoping these magnificent ancient giants continue to stand tall for many, many years to come. โค๏ธ๐ŸŒฟ

We decided to take the long way from Perth to the Stirling Ranges, following the coast through the Southwest before heading inland. And, of course, I couldnโ€™t resist turning the journey into a little orchid-hunting adventure! ๐ŸŒธ

I knew we were probably a little early for the orchids, but hope springs eternal when youโ€™re out exploring the bush. ๐Ÿ˜‚ So, we made ๐ž๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐จ๐ฉ๐ฌ ๐š๐ญ ๐ฏ๐š๐ซ๐ข๐จ๐ฎ๐ฌ ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ž๐ซ๐ฏ๐ž๐ฌ ๐›๐ž๐ญ๐ฐ๐ž๐ž๐ง ๐‚๐š๐ฉ๐ž๐ฅ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐€๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐š, keeping our eyes peeled for those elusive little beauties.

It was definitely ๐ก๐ข๐ญ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ฆ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฌ in some of the usual locations, with only three reserves producing any really notable finds - one around Capel, Carbanup and Cape Naturaliste. But thatโ€™s the thing about searching for orchids and other little bush treasuresโ€ฆ you just never know what youโ€™re going to find.

When we were in Perth last week - many of the Northern suburbs were just waking up with native orchids.

This particular location had quite a few interesting ๐‚๐š๐ซ๐จ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฅ ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐ข๐๐ž๐ซ ๐จ๐ซ๐œ๐ก๐ข๐๐ฌ, a bit redder and perhaps some higher fringing on a few. Find it so hard to differentiate the Carousel's from the Tuart's spiders but they are gorgeous, nevertheless. ๐Ÿ˜

Snottygobble - quite possibly one of the most magical campsite names around! ๐Ÿ˜‚ But thereโ€™s nothing made up about itโ€ฆ the name comes from a shrub found in this region.

We didnโ€™t camp here, but itโ€™s a great spot to search for ๐ก๐š๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ž๐ซ ๐จ๐ซ๐œ๐ก๐ข๐๐ฌ. Follow the path a little further and youโ€™ll reach ๐†๐จ๐›๐ฅ๐ข๐ง ๐’๐ฐ๐š๐ฆ๐ฉ, where twisted, tortured trees rise from tannin-stained water. ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ–ค

Definitely feels like something out of a storybook.

Iโ€™m not really a big w**ery person, although I do enjoy a good Pinot Grigio. ๐Ÿ˜‚ So when my partner insisted that if we visited just one w**ery in Margaret River, it had to be Voyager Estate, he had definitely talked it up!

I wasnโ€™t sure it could possibly live up to the hypeโ€ฆ but wow, was I wrong.

The w**e is amazing, but it was the history, beautiful white-rendered buildings and formal gardens that blew me away. I absolutely loved wandering around the grounds and taking it all in.

What an amazing place. โค๏ธ

Cowaramup has always been my favourite town in the South West. Iโ€™ve been coming here for years, and those cheeky cow statues scattered around town still make me smile - theyโ€™re just as much fun for the big kids as they are for the little ones!

The town has had a bit of a facelift over the years and is now a pretty trendy little spot, but for me, Candy Cow will always hold a special place.

I have such fond memories of bringing the kids here and watching the lolly-making in progress. And yepโ€ฆ itโ€™s still an all-time favourite! ๐Ÿญ

Although these days thereโ€™s some pretty strong competition, with the Gourmet Food Store next door and Temper Temper Chocolate. ๐Ÿซ

Some old favourites, some new discoveriesโ€ฆ thatโ€™s what I love about coming back. โค๏ธ
