On a rare trip to the rural area I grew up in I visited the swimming pool I had spent so much of my youth pounding the waters, up and down as part of the regular training. The pool and the surrounding buildings had all undergone a complete renovation, almost unrecognizable, except the one solitary time clock, paint peeling in the same places…memories of 30 x 50m on the minute and more…..
