On a recent road trip to the north of the state of New South Wales, I visited the black opal mining town of Lightning Ridge. Among many unusual structures in the town is the Corrugated Iron Church, located in the diggings and near the shafts of the black opal miners. This building was apparently constructed for a movie called The Goddess of 1967. The church has now collapsed. The structure was never used as a church according to local history.
On this night, I captured the Milky Way Galaxy over the Church with a four shot panorama. Jupiter is visible near the galactic core. The Dark Emu is clearly visible with its head over the roof of the Church. I lit the scene with my Cineroid LED light.

On another road trip to the dark skies of New South Wales, I ended up in Lucknow near Orange to shoot Orion whilst it was still high in the sky. I set up my Benro Polaris tracker with a composition of Orion to include Barnard's Loop, Rigel and Betelgeuse and the nearby emission nebulae with my Sony 35mm f/1.4 GM lens on my Sony a74 astro modified camera.
I shot a foreground with my Sony f/1.8 G lens on my Sony a74.
I replaced the sky with Sky Replacement in Photoshop and this image became a focal length blend of a 20mm foreground and a 35mm sky.
If you look closely, you can see the Flame Nebula and the Witch Head Nebula.

I shot 4 images of the foreground at f/1.8 for 60 seconds at 500 ISO and stitched them in PTGui. All blended in Photoshop.

I recently went in search of the Summer Milky Way with the intention of capturing the Galaxy from Orion to the Magenellic Clouds with my astro modified camera to show the Hydrogen Alpha emission nebulae of the region.
I found a location with a good view of the night sky and set up my Benro Polaris to track the sky. I shot 24 images in 2 rows and stacked 4 images at each position. Stitched in PTGui and processed in Sequator, Photoshop, StarXTerminator and Topaz DeNoise.

On another road trip to the dark skies of New South Wales, I ended up at Iandra Castle (pronounced Eye-Andra). https://iandracastle.com.au
The heritage building is unfortunately unavailable for nightscape imaging. There is however a small chapel which is part of the estate which is right near the road and easily photographed.
I set up and shot a panorama of 12 images in 4 rows and stitched them in PTGui.

I finally made it out to dark skies near Young, NSW to catch the comet before it eventually disappears from our night skies. Comet C/2025 A6 Lemmon was a challenge to find in the evening skies as it was not naked eye visible to me. I struggled to find the comet in the colour of the sunset at my location and could not see the comet on my LCD. By the time I found it, looking through my electronic viewfinder, the comet had moved below the horizon. My intention was to track and shoot it at a higher magnification, maybe 100mm or 200mm or somewhere in between. At that point, I called it a night and went away disappointed. Later, I found my best frame and processed it. Shooting the comet in the southern hemisphere is challenging as the position is quite low to the horizon and the time window is limited before the comet sets. Maybe next time, we will have a bright comet that is higher in the sky like Comet McNaught was in 2007. The bright red lights are on a radio tower mast a few kilometers distant.

I recently visited New Zealand and stopped off at Moke Lake near Queenstown to capture the starry reflections in the still waters of the lake. I set up a composition to capture the Galaxy and the reflections in the lake. However, I only managed to get a few shots in before the clouds came through and covered the setting galaxy. This was about as good as I could record.
This is a 2 shot panorama stitched in Lightroom. I processed the panorama in Photoshop and Topaz.
