There’s something truly special about horse and rider sessions, and Rike's was no different.

They’re never just about taking photos, they’re about capturing the connection, trust, and partnership that’s built over countless hours together.

Recently, I had the privilege of photographing Rike with her beautiful horses, Blade and Lady Bug. Watching their bond shine through the lens was something special, and it was clear just how much these horses mean to her.

Of course, we couldn’t forget Evie, who happily joined in on the session too!
One thing I’ve noticed over the years is that wherever there are horses, there always seems to be a dog close by. Whether they’re helping around the paddocks, supervising from a safe distance, or simply wanting to be involved, they’re often just as much a part of the story as the horses themselves.

So it got me wondering... are all horse people dog people too?

Keeping with the extended family theme here ✨The Styling Savannah curated for this session was *Chef's Kiss*

This time of year is such a fantastic time to have photos done, mostly limited rain, (atleast for the most part it's not torrential!) like the first 3 months of the year, much much cooler and comfortable to have your photos done and you have PLENTY of time to be organised to print as gifts for family or yourself before Christmas. I KNOW your'e like, Excuse me Emily?! What are you doing talking about Christmas, but If your life has been anything like mine, this year is FLYING by. I cannot believe were about to break for school holidays and then we will be looking down the barrel of TERM 3.

If you've been planning to book photos this year, this is the sign to reach out, because this year is flying and I hate saying no to people 🫶

Matsen Extended family session ✨

This extended family session at On The Range was packed with everything you'd expect when you get the whole crew together; plenty of laughs, endless banter, a few questionable jokes (always mine) and of course, some perfectly timed rabbit ears making their way into the photos.

A beautiful afternoon, exceptionally styled colour palette, great company, lots of memories made, and we still managed to get some gorgeous photos = winning!

Honestly, if your family session doesn't include a few laughs and at least one rabbit ear photobomb from Grand Dad, are you even doing it right?

Delivery day for Tegan & her girls ✨

A beautiful afternoon spent with this gorgeous mumma and her girls, soaking up the last of the golden light with their horses by their side. There were giggles, cuddles, windswept hair, dirty boots and the kind of moments you can’t pose, only feel 🤍

These sessions are never just about the photos. They’re about freezing this season of life exactly as it is… the love for their horses, the bond between sisters, and the memories being made in between the laughter.

One thing I'm learning, horse girls always have dogs, as much as I love meeting the horses I'm loving meeting all the pups too 🥰 Are you a horse girl with a dog too?

Hailee reached out to me just a week before their session, and honestly, as a mum, I know how quickly photography can slide down the priority list during pregnancy amongst appointments, planning and the general chaos of preparing for a baby.

But for Hailee and Ty, capturing this chapter of their lives felt important. They knew these moments deserved to be remembered, and the farm was the perfect setting to tell their story.

So between schedules, life and the weather gods being on our side, we made it happen on the most beautiful May afternoon. Golden light, perfect weather and two people soaking in the excitement of what’s to come 🤍

My first Horse & Rider focused session ✨

There’s just something so special about the connection between girls and their horses… the quiet trust, the little looks, the soft moments in between. 🤍

Friday afternoon felt like stepping into a dream with Tegan, Matilda & Armani. From brushing windswept manes out of faces to cuddles between shots, every little moment felt so genuine and full of love. These weren’t just photos, they were memories of a bond that runs so much deeper than words.

And can we talk about the light?! Absolute *chef’s kiss* golden glow all afternoon ✨

Erica (horse) and Sprinkles (pony) were absolute legends. Although, getting Erica to put her ears forward definitely turned into a full team effort 😂 Such a graceful old gal, completely unbothered by all of our silly noises and antics.

These are only the sneak peeks, and I already can’t wait to share the rest 🤍
