🕷️✨ Pushed all the way to the top of Cathu last night for some spotlighting. 🔦
Found this beautiful glider in the canopy and shared some space with a few tarantulas.🕷️Worth every muddy track.🚘

The Finch Hatton showgrounds turned on a spectacular day just below the lush Eungella rainforest, filled with community spirit and unforgettable family moments. Overhead, a helicopter hummed across the river, adding a thrilling backdrop to an already buzzing atmosphere.
The carnival side of the grounds was alive with laughter as my daughter dived into the games, completely immersed in the magic of the show.
​The absolute highlight was crossing paths with the team from D'Aguilar Wildlife. I managed to get some cool footage of their stunning Black-headed Python, capturing its sleek scales and striking patterns against the vibrant valley backdrop.
​It was the perfect blend of high-energy carnival fun and spectacular, up-close nature experiences.

Polymorphism in the greater glider 🐿️ (Petauroides\ volans) is a biological phenomenon where the species exhibits distinct color variations (morphs) within the same population, ranging from deep charcoal-black to pure white. 🐻‍❄️
Unlike many species where color variants are tied to specific regions or subspecies, greater glider color morphs frequently coexist in the same forest patches.

Last night began with a hearty home-cooked dinner of pork loins and pepper steaks for my partner and daughter before I headed out for a night of spotlighting.
​I made the drive up to Eungella, targeting the Eungella dam road🛣️ areas of the national park. 🏞️
Despite a very windy🍃 canopy that made spotting a challenge, the rainforest was absolutely beautiful and delivered an incredible highlight...🤠📷🐻‍❄️ photographing a rare white color morph Greater Glider high up in the treetops.🔦🌳🐻‍❄️🇦🇺

On a misty night in Eungella,
(The Northern Barred Frog) 🐸
(Mixophyes schevilli) with a steady leap jumped out on to the track Infront of me, amidst the cloud-covered rainforest track during the Misty light rainfall.
Cloud-mist and steady rain, creating the perfect high-humidity environment for active amphibians.
​1:00 AM, the peak nocturnal hunting window for large ground-dwelling frogs.
Reliant on open ground for navigating leaf litter and hunting passing invertebrates during wet weather.🐛

This is not my usual inspiring wildlife and nature experiences...

I cannot just show all the positive good things about life without being honest and also bringing awareness about the bad things that can also happen.😔
Currently in our colder month's here in mid central North Queensland Australia,
everything and everyone is just trying to stay warm.
I recently had a very unfortunate moment in my life that keeps bringing me to tears.😭 (When was the last time you cried)?
whilst on a nocturnal photography adventure a rather beautiful creature seems to have hitched a ride on me or in my clothes I should say, whilst staying hidden it unfortunately found its end in my washing machine.😭
I truly love all creatures and this has really bummed me out...
my daughter asked to bury it to give it respect so we did.🦎
