"Don't work with dogs and kids"
How boring. Shoot in High-Burst, capture every millisecond and then edit and find the best shots from that.
Bring the kids, bring the whole family. Bring the dogs.
Working Conferences, Events, and Family Photoshoots. It's all similar, people are moving and grooving, quickly.
How?
Here's the camera settings:
ISO high enough to not have too much noise, and to compensate if it's a dark venue, and to compensate for a high shutter speed. (ISO - 200 if outside in the light, ISO - 800 - 2000 in the dark)
Shutter Speed, 1/150 if working with flash and dark venue. 1/250 - 1/300 if outdoors and you can afford to have quicker shots.
(As a bonus, flip this shutter speed to 1/10 - 1/20 if you want artsy blurred people in the shots. Keep ISO Fixed to 200. And F.stop about f.6 - f.8 (depending on how far they are away from you)).
f.stop = two purposes.
1 - If someone is close to you = small number f.stop. If they're further away, bigger number.
2 - If it's a dark venue, small F.stop. If it's bright - bigger number.
If it's dark and people are far away, hope that it's not a tall ceiling building, bounce light off the ceiling - to make sure to not get the deer in headlights look.
