After watching one of the most surreal sunsets last night at Dante's View that overlooks the entire Death Valley, I decided to stay overnight because it was relatively cooler than the valley below, Furnace Creek was still around 39c at night. The stars eventually came out on a moonless night and few other boys from Europe were holding up in the caravan while i mucked around on my camera and yes that is my silhouette in the background :)

On a recent trip to the Scotland Highlands, I met a beautiful couple strolling through the picturesque hills of Glencoe.

Meet Jane and Dudley Bright. According to Jane they have been married for 45 years and according to Dudley they have been married for 40, both laughed and flirted like it was their first date.

Jane suffers from severe arthritis and relies on a walking cane to trek the highlands, and Dudley a principal trombone of the London Symphony Orchestra only retired a year ago in the background capturing the moment.

"We have always wanted to visit Scotland" Jane said. A friend of ours was killed last week, he was just walking on the pavement and suddenly hit by an out of control car".

I was lucky enough to meet them on my virgin voyage too. I offered to take their photo together, but she initially refused, apparently she hated having her wedding photos taken, but after chatting for a few minutes, Jane opened up about her life and husband.

This stoic image of Jane crossing many life bridges, while perhaps in some moments Dudley may have been distracted and enjoyed most of the spotlight from career symptoms.

Jane still manages to conquer the highland hills in pain and in love. Both triumphant after 40-45 years . . .
