"The Nephelai" ~ As an artist, I am always in awe of the grand masters who have immortalised beauty in their works of art. They have set a high standard, one that has been both inspiring and daunting for contemporary artists like myself.

In "Head in the Clouds," I draw inspiration from ancient mythology and explore the representation of beauty through the centuries. The Nephelai, the mythological spirits who brought water to the heavens in pitchers made of clouds, have always captivated my imagination. In ancient Greek mythology, nymphs were often depicted as beautiful young women, dancing across the sky with their dresses billowing in the wind.

As a millennial artist, I have taken a fresh perspective on this tradition. My painterly style, while rooted in the grand master's techniques, celebrates the beauty of diversity in human form. I have turned the swimming pool into both a studio and a stage, utilising photography as a powerful tool for self-discovery and self-love.

In "The Nephelai," I have captured the ethereal beauty of these mythological nymphs. Twelve beautiful young women with long hair and flowing fabric intertwine within the clouds, creating a dreamlike quality that emphasises the spirits' ephemeral nature.

My work aims to create an awareness of the legacy passed down to us from early representations of the human form. I strive to continue the grand masters' legacy, inspiring and challenging artists to push the boundaries of beauty and creativity.

"Calypso Dusk": The name Calypso, meaning "to conceal" or "to hide," holds significant meaning in this image from my series "Head in the Clouds." In ancient mythology, Calypso was a nymph known for her beauty and grace. In this image, the two young women seem to embody the themes of concealment and revelation associated with Calypso's name, as they are intertwined with the fabric and floating within the clouds, appearing to both hide and reveal themselves simultaneously. My painterly style highlights the beauty and diversity of the human form, while the swimming pool serves as both studio and stage for the expression of self-discovery, self-acceptance, and self-love. By evoking the legacy of early representations of beauty and exploring themes of concealment and revelation, "Calypso Dusk" is a celebration of the human body and the power of photography to inspire self-expression and acceptance.

"Ianthe": In this image from my series "Head in the Clouds," I draw inspiration from the mythological Nephelai, the nature spirits who brought water to the heavens in pitchers made of clouds. Ianthe was a nymph in ancient mythology, her name meaning "violet flower." Like the other nymphs, Ianthe was known for her beauty and grace, dancing across the sky with billowing dresses. As an artist, I seek to capture the legacy of early representations of beauty and celebrate the diversity of the human form through my painterly style. In "Ianthe," I portray a stunning young woman with long brown hair intertwined with fabric, gracefully floating within the clouds. Through photography, I hope to encourage self-discovery, self-acceptance, and self-love.

"Rhodope" is a stunning image from the "Head In The Clouds" series. As an artist, I draw inspiration from the Nephelai, the mythological nature spirits who brought water to the heavens in pitchers made of clouds. In this image, Rhodope, a beautiful nymph with long dark hair, is depicted intertwined with the fabric of her dress in the clouds. Through my painterly style, I aimed to capture the dreamlike quality of ancient mythology, while also celebrating the power of photography as a tool for self-discovery and self-love. Rhodope represents the diversity and beauty of the female form, and I hope this artwork inspires viewers to appreciate the legacy of classic art and ancient mythology.

"Rhanis Raindrop" is an artwork that holds a special place in my heart as it embodies my artistic vision and style. As an artist, I'm fascinated by the classical art's depiction of idealised beauty and how it's perpetuated by the media. The image of nymphs, such as Rhanis, dancing across the sky with pitchers made of clouds, is a symbol of this idealised beauty that has been present in art for centuries. With my millennial perspective, I wanted to expand upon this legacy by celebrating the diversity of the human form, which has been admired in the most intimate of details for centuries. The three intertwined nymphs, with their flowing dresses and ethereal presence, are an ode to the feminine beauty that transcends time and culture. Through the power of photography, I wanted to invite the viewers to delve into this magical realm of self-discovery, acceptance, and love. From the series, "Head In The Clouds".

"Psekas Shower" from my series "Head In The Clouds" captures the beauty of the female form, inspired by the idealised depictions of nymphs in ancient mythology and iconic paintings. Psekas, in ancient Greek, meant sprinkling, and this image portrays seven beautiful young women intertwined with each other as they cascade down through the clouds like a shower. The depiction of the female form in art has been an enduring symbol of beauty throughout history, and this image serves to challenge traditional notions of beauty and inspire us to embrace diverse representations of the human form. By presenting a contemporary interpretation of classical art, I hope to promote body positivity and encourage viewers to appreciate the beauty of all forms.

"Khryseis" from my series "Head In The Clouds" draws inspiration from the beauty of ancient mythology and the enduring influence of classical art. In Greek mythology, Khryseis was a cloud nymph of the golden-tinged skies, named after the Greek word for "golden-yellow." This piece portrays her as a stunning young woman floating in the clouds with hair and fabric flowing, capturing the essence of her beauty and grace. The depiction of nymphs as idealised representations of beauty have persisted throughout art history, inspiring classical ideals of beauty that still influence modern society. By presenting Khryseis in this image, I hope to challenge traditional notions of beauty and broaden our perspectives, celebrating the legacy of classical art and its enduring influence on our imagination.
