Some days are better then others

Finally got out to see the elephants at Monarto Safari Park again recently & for the first time I saw two of them together in the new habitat.

You can already see how much work has gone into the expansion. The space is massive & feels so much more natural for them. Watching them move around in a place built properly for elephants was pretty special. 🐘

Now I’m honestly just looking forward to the day the full expansion is complete & seeing all five elephants together out there. That’ll be something pretty incredible to witness.

One of my all-time favourite portraits.
Taken in India, in what I’d describe as the slums of Delhi. Our bus stop to Agra was right next door. I had time to kill, so I wandered around with my camera.

Then out of nowhere, this little legend runs up to the fence.

Big smile. Zero hesitation. Pure joy.

No posing. No direction. Just presence.

That moment — that exact split second — is why I fell in love with photography in the first place.

I’ve since had AI animate this image, and it honestly gave me chills. It perfectly captures that energy… the way he leaned in, the sparkle in his eyes, that cheeky grin. It feels like stepping back into that afternoon.

We talk about wealth and poverty like they’re opposites. But sometimes the richest expressions I’ve ever seen have come from places with the least material things.

India has given me some of the most confronting moments of my life.
And also some of the most beautiful.

This was one of them.

Varanasi.

I took this portrait on the ghats one afternoon as the light was starting to soften.
He didn’t say much. He didn’t need to.

There’s something about the faces in India.
They hold stories. Hardship. Devotion. Time.

The orange. The ash on his forehead. The lines in his skin.
It’s like the Ganges carved through him the same way it carves through the city.

I’ve just had AI animate this image… and honestly, it’s blowing my mind.
Seeing him breathe. Blink.

Technology meets ancient soul.

We live in a strange world.

But moments like this — they still feel timeless.

Three young monks.
Students.
Coming up the stone path at Key Monastery in the Himalayas.

Laughing. Pushing each other. Just being young men.

We picture monasteries as silent. Serious. Still.

But this… this was pure joy.

It stopped me in my tracks, as I was photographed this scene.
Not because it was spiritual.
But because it was human.

Now I’ve animated this photo with AI and it’s almost unsettling how real it feels. The robes move. The laughter feels like it’s about to spill out of the screen.

It takes me straight back to that exact second.

Varanasi.
On the ghats.

One of the most memorable nights of my life.

The air was thick as we smoked together, firelight bouncing off stone that’s older than most countries. You don’t just see Varanasi… you feel it in your chest.

He sat there, wrapped in layers, lighting up in that golden glow.

Click.

That moment has sat still for years.

Now I’ve had AI animate it.

And watching the flame flicker again…
Watching the smoke roll out slowly…
Seeing that breath move…

It hit me.

Because I remember the moment the river.
The feeling that I was exactly where I was meant to be.

Some photos are just photos.
Some hold entire nights inside them.

This one?
It carries Varanasi in its lungs.
