Mr Excited & Friends. Classic Cars WorldWide 🌏 Holden Day Coffee and Cars at the York On Lilydale got off to a soggy start but thankfully the rain took the hint and moved on. Before long the cars were rolling in, filling the car park to capacity and proving that a little wet weather isn’t enough to keep Holden enthusiasts at home.

One thing Mr Excited’s events never disappoint on is the atmosphere. There’s always a fantastic family-friendly vibe with plenty of laughs, great conversations and people coming together to admire some incredible machinery. Whether you were catching up with mates or making a few new ones there was something for everyone.

Congratulations to all of the trophy winners on the day. There was certainly no shortage of deserving cars on display. I was also pretty stoked to have my own car SKITZN take home the Best 2000s award. It’s always a great feeling to be recognised amongst such a high-quality lineup and it’s a nice reminder that all those hours in the garage (and the excuses for buying “just one more part”) is worth it.

✖️Picking a favourite car of the day was no easy task, but one that kept drawing me back was a stunning 1969 Holden GTS Coupe finished in silver with a striking red interior. The contrast between the two colours was spot on, while the immaculate engine bay was every bit as impressive as the rest of the car. Add in the big-dish rear wheels, and the whole package had serious presence.

The coupe looked like it had just rolled straight off the pages of a magazine absolutely immaculate and a perfect example of why these classics continue to turn heads wherever they go

It was a freezing morning at Gembrook Coffee & Cars with the roads still wet from the wild weather the night before. The drive there was a bit of an adventure, dodging fallen tree branches and the occasional surprise left behind by Mother Nature.
Thankfully the rain held off long enough for everyone to make the most of the morning before the weather inevitably decided to change its mind again.

Despite the chilly conditions there was an incredible turnout. The streets were packed with cars, people filled every corner and the whole town was buzzing with that unmistakable Coffee and Cars atmosphere.

My favourite car of the morning was the stunning 1954 Mercury Coupe – NOCLUB.
Finished in a deep orange that absolutely came alive once the sun broke through. It was beautifully complemented by striking red pinstriping that made the paintwork pop even more. The red accents continued onto the white roof, tying the whole build together perfectly. It had a real “look at me” attitude and judging by the crowd gathered around it all morning it certainly had everyone’s attention.

With the regular Berwick Breakfast Classic Cars & Rods meets usually taking a break over the colder months the lack of car events last weekend was the perfect excuse for a pop-up gathering.

The morning got off to a gloomy start with wet roads and a winter chill in the air but that certainly didn’t stop enthusiasts from rolling in. Plenty of people braved the brisk conditions to catch up over a coffee, admire the cars, and enjoy the great sense of community.

It was fantastic to see a mix of fresh faces and new builds alongside the usual suspects, making for a great variety of vehicles and conversations throughout the morning.

As always, Berwick delivered another enjoyable catch up. That said I think we’re all counting down the days until summer returns these frosty starts make escaping a warm bed feel like the hardest modification of the day!

✖️My favourite car had to be the slammed peachy-pink ’56 Chevy.
Sitting low on a set of old-school wheels, complete with what appeared to be flappers. It was impossible to walk past without taking a second look.

The soft peach paint paired beautifully with the chrome accents while the crisp white interior completed the classic look perfectly. Safe to say it definitely tickled my fancy.

What a crisp morning at Garfield Coffee & Cars! 🥶
It was definitely one of those mornings where a hot coffee and a bacon and egg roll felt less like breakfast and more like survival gear.
At one stage, I was seriously considering volunteering at the BBQ purely for the warmth.

As the morning rolled on the blue skies finally broke through. The temperature climbed and it turned into an absolute cracker of a day. The regular crowd was out in force along with plenty of new faces and fresh builds which is always great to see.

My favourite rig of the day was the slammed 1993 Holden Rodeo DRAAGN. Anyone who knows me knows I have a soft spot for slammed trucks and this one certainly didn’t disappoint.

No corner of this build had been overlooked. Finished in Polaris Blue with custom printed flames incorporating skulls the artwork flowed seamlessly throughout the truck even into the door jambs. It was clear this build wasn’t about cutting corners.

The interior was just as impressive, featuring a combination of blue suede and leather custom gauges and an old-school chrome steering wheel that perfectly complemented the chrome rims on the mini truck.

And finally, I couldn’t help but laugh at the chromed naked lady sitting proudly as a bonnet badge. It was one of those quirky little details that gave the truck even more personality and reminded everyone that custom cars should be just as much about having fun as they are about craftsmanship.

The next Garfield Coffee & Cars is on Sunday 26th July 2026 on the main strip.

Gembrook Coffee & Cars June edition kicked off with a foggy morning that eventually gave way to beautiful sunshine. Proof that even the weather couldn’t decide whether it wanted a sleep-in.

I arrived a little later than planned and missed a few cars but there was still plenty on display to keep enthusiasts busy.
With the weather clearing it was easy to see how eager everyone was to get out, enjoy their machines and make the most of the day.

My favourite car of the morning was a bit of an unexpected choice for me. I’m not usually the biggest Porsche enthusiast but a white 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 RS with red accents absolutely stood out from the crowd. It looked fantastic sitting among the lineup and sounded even better cruising past.

And if I’ve managed to identify it correctly that’s a small victory in itself as my Porsche knowledge isn’t exactly championship winning material.
