How wonderful is this Blue Ant at Westgate Park today. There were at least four of them feasting on this Twiggy Daisy Bush. Its actually a wasp which you can tell when you see the male, which looks more like a standard wasp. ~♡~Every day is Earth Day 🌏 it is our life support system. This was a lucky find on the Kororoit Creek the other morning. I came across these resting native bees. What a joy and not something I've seen before. A pair of snuggling Superb Fairy-wrens warmed my heart at Westgate Park today. It's not often I get to be up so close, and this little pair didn't notice me at all as they napped, preened and snuggled together.

I have had a little break and suddenly feel called to be back here sharing. Here is a most wonderful Pink-eared Duck I got to hang out with the other day at Westgate Park. It happily posed for me this way and that as it went about its business. More info in comments.

To my surprise I came across a Dollar Bird on the Kororoit Creek. Comes to Australia in the Spring and Summer to breed. Apparently around march it will return to New Guinea and adjacent islands to spend the winter. It feeds on large insects during the early morning and evenings. Latley ive got my insect eyes on as I scour the folage on the Kororoit Creek and Westgate Park. My findings I post on INaturalist which is a fabulous app for recording biodiversity of an area. Westgate Park and the Friends of Kororoit Creek have projects there where you can see all the flora and fauna recorded in the area. Im enjoying using the macro on my camera and trying to get better shots. I hope you enjoy what I have captured. It is so important we care for the insects and stop spraying poison everywhere. Insects are an incredibly important part of a healthy ecosystem.

I've been keeping an eye out for the Eastern long-necked turtles at Westgate Park. I saw one last month but latley on a warm day they come to the surface and some congergrate near branches in the water. Then today was the day the ventured out looking for nesting spots. I found three wandering around on land and I'm sure there were more. ~🌏~ Every day is Earth Day.

During Mondays Bird Survey at Westgate Park, I came across this curled up Tiger Snake. It was an overcast cool day and when we came back about an hour and a half it was still there trying to warm up.
