BEHIND THE SCENES: No posing. Just a quiet hour by the water.

The quiet paths through the tea trees.
The river meeting the sea.
The way your hand feels in theirs right now.

My sessions aren’t about creating a perfect picture—they are about holding space for your real, unfiltered connection.

Just you, being you.

There is a very specific kind of magic that only happens when I step into a family’s sanctuary.

No studio backdrop can ever compete with the warmth of your own walls.

When we do an in-home session, your home isn’t just a setting—it becomes a character in your story.

Twenty years from now, when you look back at these images, you won’t just see how tiny your baby’s hands were. You will see the memories living in the background. You’ll see the exact art hanging on the bedroom wall. The rug where he learned to roll over. The couch where you spent those long, quiet, beautiful afternoons nursing and rocking him to sleep.

It is a preservation of this exact, fleeting chapter.

And the best part? It is completely relaxed. No rushing out the door, no packing three different bags. Just bare feet, soft morning light, and your family exactly as you are.

(And, of course, your first baby—the four-legged one—gets to pad quietly from room to room with us, curling up exactly where they always do).

Three hearts, four paws, and a home filled with soft light.

There’s something about photographing the same family over time that gets me.
Not just because I get to see how much the children have grown, but because I get to see the little shifts. The new rhythms. The changing hands, faces, bodies and relationships.
This time, we created these three artworks to hang together as a set. Simple. Quiet. A record of now.
And a new book of memories — made to sit alongside the one we created when Max was just days old.
I love that idea.
One book beside another.
One chapter next to the next.
There’s something very grounding about being able to look back and see a family’s life gathered in this way. Not just the big milestones, but the shape of a particular season before it quietly changes again.
Being invited back into a family’s story, year after year, is one of the greatest privileges of what I do.
I get to make the photographs.
But they get to keep the evidence of who they were. 🤎

The Matrescence Project continues to ripple out far and wide, and I’d love for you to join me for a very special event.

On Friday 21 August, I’ll be sitting alongside three incredible authors at Mothers in the Light in Melbourne. We’ll be speaking about the profound identity shifts of motherhood, and the beautiful, raw truths I uncovered while gathering the stories of 50 mothers on their Matrescence journey.

I’d truly love to have you in the room with us.

Tickets are now available via the link in my bio.

I can’t stop crying.

Every Tuesday at 6pm for the last three weeks.

My big boy.

I so vividly remember sitting in the darkness, tears rolling down my cheeks, telling myself that one day you would be big. And I would want this moment back.

Then, I remember the feeling of your tiny hand slipping into mine as you watched the world.

The weight of you as you backed in and plopped into my lap.

Your never-ending stories of inventions.

The rows and rows of coloured water in jars on every shelf. Each one unique. Each one a treasure.

Now I get a side bump.

“See ya, Mum.”

And off you run into the shadows of the soccer field with your mates.

New muscles showing in your legs.

Shoulders a little broader.

You turn.
You wave.

Just one wave, Mum. Then you can go.

I stay for two.

You let me.

You take my breath away, kid.

The beautiful Benita Bensch | Author & Speaker is a part of The Matrescence Project, volume one. And invited me to be a part of her book, Seen Again. I got to tell a little part of my story and now I get to be a part of this special event and share more of the stories from The Matrescence Project!

I’ll be joining three incredible authors for Mothers in the Light next month - a morning of storytelling, conversation and connection exploring the many faces of motherhood.

On Friday 21 August in Melbourne, I will be joining Benita Bensch, Porscia Lam, and Lisa Taylor as we each share the stories and insights at the heart of our work.

Tickets are on sale now and places are limited. Link in my bio to book your seat.

✨ HELP ME FIND THESE MUMS ✨

I’m looking for mothers who are willing to share a piece of their story as part of The Matrescence Project.

Matrescence is the physical, emotional, psychological and social transformation that happens when we become mothers. It’s messy, beautiful, disorientating, profound, and yet so often invisible.

Through portraits and storytelling, I’m documenting the real experiences of motherhood in all its complexity.

I’m looking for mothers (with children of ANY age) who are willing to be photographed and share their journey into motherhood. Not perfect motherhood. Real motherhood.

If you know a mum who would love this project, please tag her, send this to her, or share this post to your stories.

There is a link in my Insta profile to learn more.

Thank you for helping me find them. ❤️
