Steamrail Victoria S301 “Sir Thomas Mitchell” and V/Line A66 lead the special (No. 8497) into Warragul a few minutes early, whilst passing through Gallagher’s Crossing (or Colman Street Level Crossing) before the station.

This is the first Steamrail tour to Gippsland for 2026, with future tours that could take place in Gippsland within the year, which I look forward to! 🙂

Due to locomotive shortages, SCT had leased locomotives from leasing companies like RFAM (or Railfirst Asset Management) and heritage groups to cover for the shortages.

SCT-leased Seymour Heritage Railway Centre C501 “George Brown”, X31 and Railpower CLF2 arrive into Maroona with a late running freight service (run no. 9721V) to Dooen.

At Maroona, 9721V would wait to cross another train heading towards Melbourne.

“And with that, the 2023 season comes to an end.”

Steamrail Victoria T356, T395, T364 and special guest T334 from the Mornington Railway Preservation Society bring the Christmas Members Train (8497) into Warragul, as they speed past the east side of the town before slowing down whilst arriving into the station.

This is the first time T334 ran on the mainline for 3 decades, ever since it went to the Mornington Railway Preservation Society around the early 90s.

Pacific National X50, along with BL31 in the background are both shut down while in the siding at Maroona.

X50 was dropped off from a Dimboola bound grain train from Portland the night before.

BL31 was also dropped off, but from the down Mildura fruity earlier, in the morning / last night.

Aurizon ACD6052, ACD6046, crew car ADFY 1 lead 7MP1 with G535 sandwiched in the middle of the train through Maroona, bound for Perth.

G535 would later be dropped off at Dry Creek, with the train continuing on with its journey to Perth.

After coupling, 7MP1 will head to Perth, with G535 going to be dropped off at Dry Creek in Adelaide later.
