They call it dopamine dressing. Wearing outfits that makes you feel good. And who doesn’t like a solid hit of those natural endorphins to impact our overall well-being.
Someone was only telling me yesterday how she's avoided getting her professional headshot updated for years because she gets too nervous. When we then somehow got onto our respective outfits, I watched her get visibly happier chatting about a favourite piece of clothing and why. It sounds so fundamental, but feeling good in what you wear plays such an important role in how confident you feel in front of the camera. It also allows you to project your individual identity and attract 'your kind of client.'
Burgundy (or berry) is one of my favourite colours and it works for pretty much everyone. It’s a classic and timeless colour that evokes a variety of emotions - strength, stability, sophistication and warmth. Think of it like the colour navy. Shirts, jackets, dresses, ties, pants, a pocket square. You can then combo it with colours and shades like navy, light blue, pink, green, white, black and grey.
And to any of the gents reading this and thinking I don’t care about this sort of thing…. Well maybe you don’t right now but you are also often the same lovely men who walk in on shoot day with Quite the selection of ties and pocket squares to workshop what will work best. And so you should. You’re not doing this very often, (maybe your wedding day or someone else's was the last time) so we make it count in an easy way. I provide all of my clients with pre shoot styling ideas to get you started and I also work with Personal Stylists who are the true experts at this. And where relevant, we also take into account your website branding colour palette.
Beautiful bold burgundy. Check out the sales on now, or with your sustainable hat on see if you can borrow or hit the op shops, which now also feature designer sections.
