New name, same me ✨

I first started this account to quietly share the photos I was taking with the new camera I’d finally saved up for - no big plan, just a love for a new hobby. My handle was a little play on the first three letters of my first and last name, because honestly, it felt safer to stay anonymous.

Since then, everything has grown. My confidence, my direction, and my love for photography. And as that’s happened, Nickel Photography hasn’t quite felt like me.

The more I’ve photographed, the more I’ve realised what I love most: those little in-between moments you can’t recreate. The ones full of feeling, completely unposed and wonderfully real. That’s what I want to keep chasing. And that’s why, from today, I’m changing my business name to reflect more of me. Stepping out from behind the camera to introduce: Captured by Kelly.

Earlier this year, I printed Nickel Photography business cards… and instantly had that sinking “this isn’t it” feeling. Choosing something that felt right was harder than I thought and once I did, in true me fashion, I sat on it for months! Overthinking every part. Waiting for the “perfect” moment.

But lately, I’ve had so many quiet reminders to just trust myself. I’m not perfect. What I capture isn’t perfect. And that’s the whole point, it doesn’t have to be.

So here it is. A new name, a fresh chapter. Still me.

She thought it was just a girls’ trip. He knew it was the moment she’d never forget ✨

While Tram posed for photos, completely unaware, Chris was just steps away waiting to ask the biggest question of their lives.

The girls had it all planned: her favourite dress, a spot of sightseeing, and a whole lot of excitement waiting just around the corner!

The laughter, the shock, the yes - it’s moments like these I feel so lucky to witness, and even luckier to capture.

Congratulations, Chris & Tram. Here’s to a beautiful new chapter—just one of many memories you’ll look back on together.

Ryan didn’t want a grand surprise—he just wanted a simple, heartfelt moment.

Usually, it’s the one you love that you plan everything with, the person you confide in. But when you have to keep it a secret from them, you need someone else in your corner. That’s where I come in—to help bring your vision to life, making sure every detail is just right while keeping it all a surprise.

He envisioned a casual walk in the Royal Botanical Gardens, nothing elaborate. We planned a way to ‘bump into’ each other while I was out photographing the gardens, setting up the perfect moment for him to ask me to take a photo of him and Hannah. After a quick chat, I had everything I needed to help Ryan bring his idea to life. And when the time came, everything unfolded just as he imagined—no pressure, no fuss, just a genuine, beautiful memory captured in the most natural way.

Because sometimes, the simplest moments mean the most ✨

Meet Bronson—aka Bron, aka the goodest boy in training for his starring role as ring bearer! His fabulous parents are tying the knot, and I get to capture all the love (and hopefully some doggy mischief) along the way. 🐾💍

His mum has already sent me Bronson-specific inspo for his big day, and this dog-loving photographer is very excited!

This session was a complimentary engagement shoot, which I include for all my weddings. It’s the perfect chance for us to meet before the big day, for you to feel more relaxed in front of the camera, and for me to learn all about you (and sometimes your furry family members too!).
