It’s not always the big jobs that are the best. Just Dennis, Leo & myself shooting 2 little Doco style stories over two weeks in my homeland of NZ.
A collection of frames that I enjoyed most from Jason’s story.
One of my favorite aspects about my job is frequently finding solutions for fresh challenges, sometimes there’s more creativity found there than what’s in the frame!
I didn’t want to compromise on the quality of what we were setting out to shoot, just because it was “run & gun” by nature. I looked into all sorts of expensive backpack rigs and settled on designing my own with the help of Sonny from
I had power plates and transmitters mounted to the back of a military plate carrier. Up front I had the Alexa mini viewfinder mounted on a cinelock.. a MagSafe adapter to hold my phone open and unlocked on the ARRI companion app… a dovetail in the centre to quickly mount the camera to my chest for a little rest..and a cheeky quick release plate for my Fuji stills camera. Call it overkill, call it whatever you want, but it worked incredibly well, and I had so much fun engineering to solve the problem of a potentially heavy camera package to be out and about with day after day.
