Southern Scrub-robin a few hours’ drive from Melbourne, but definitely worth the trip!
Finding this beautiful robin was extra special because it completed my Victorian Robin collection.

A huge thank you to Franciscus Scheelings & Dougal Sanderson who helped me along the way and shared information to make these sightings possible. 🙏❤️

I’ll be sharing all my Victorian Robins in a future post, so stay tuned! 🐦📸

Grey Hornbill (Ocyceros gingalensis) — we were lucky to see this beautiful Sri Lankan endemic at Sinharaja Rainforest. 🐦🌿
Its soft grey plumage, long tail, and distinctive curved bill make it such a unique bird to encounter.

Barn Owl one of the highlights of my Sri Lanka trip. We found three of them, and as darkness fell, they arrived at this massive tree, their regular roosting spot. The best part was that there was no need to search for them they came to us every evening. I was absolutely thrilled to see these beautiful owls and spend time watching them as night took over. 🦉

After the long drive back from Kumana National Park (Sri Lanka), we stopped at Tissamaharama in search of owls. This photo was taken in the evening while we were walking along the lakeside looking for birds. It turned out to be a wonderful surprise and another memorable sighting from the trip.

A big thank you to my friend and talented photographer, Ravisara .jayamanna who showed me

Eastern Rosella another Aussie beauty 🦜
With its incredible mix of red, yellow, green, and blue, this bird always looks unreal in good light. Had to share this beautiful photo of one of Australia’s most colourful parrots.

Gang-gang Cockatoos
a whole crew of more than 10 birds enjoying Hawthorn berries!
Loud, busy, and full of character, they were feeding nonstop and didn’t mind me being really close at all. Moments like this feel wild and personal at the same time.

Superb Fairywren (female) subtle, soft, and full of charm.
Often overlooked beside the bright males, the females carry a delicate beauty with warm brown tones and that lovely hint of blue around the tail. Always active, curious, and a joy to watch in the bush.

Common Bronzewing (female) a quiet and often overlooked beauty of the Australian bush. With her soft brown tones and subtle scaled pattern, she blends perfectly into the ground, while those iridescent bronze flashes on the wings catch the light when she moves. Calm, gentle, and always a lovely find

Brown-breasted Flycatcher (Muscicapa muttui) seen at Sinharaja Rainforest. A small, understated bird that doesn’t rely on bright colours but on patience and precision. Often perching quietly at mid-level, it makes short, quick flights to catch insects before returning to the same spot. Its soft brown tones blend perfectly with the forest, making it easy to miss unless you take your time and watch closely.

Spot-winged Thrush (Geokichla spiloptera) an endemic beauty of Sri Lanka. We were lucky to see a few of them at Sinharaja Rainforest, quietly moving through the forest floor. With their rich colours and distinctive spotted wings, they blend perfectly into the rainforest shadows subtle, yet stunning when you spot them.
