Are you a details person? I am! πŸ€“

I love to dream big... but I love to notice the details, too. I love to notice water droplets on leaves, glints in eyes, hands held. Something about looking at details helps to ground me, I think.

Winter is my FAVOURITE season. Yup, you heard me! ❄️

It can be easy in Winter to assume that there's no beauty to be found, and no 'nice weather'... but the nice weather exists! And when the sun does choose to pop its head out, I'm even more thankful.

Plus, blankets, hot drinks, fire places, fuzzy socks, jumpers... there's so many warm, cozy things about Winter, and we all tend to slow down a bit.

I'm so dang thankful for bright colours. I remember when I was in school, having brightly coloured notebooks in a world full of black, white and varied shades of grey helped me feel grounded. Helped me to still feel alive when I felt the pressure would drown me.

And that's continued to this day. On gloomy days (though I do love those, too) when my mood is matching the weather, something bright will catch my eyes and bring the life back to the room. A bunch of flowers, a bunch of pens... I don't really care what it is! I just love colour.

The wonder of children is one of my favourite things to capture. For us adults, wonder tends to happen more often for really big things. Wonder tends to have to hit us over the head before we notice it.

But kids. Kids are so great. Kids find wonder in every little detail of life. Everything is brand new, they're learning about everything they see, every time they see it. Their brain is developing new memories and pathways with each experience.

If you need it, here's your daily reminder to stop and experience the wonder. The wonder of your moment, right now. The wonder of the sun peeking through the clouds, the wonder of water trickling across the path in front of you.

I had the absolute pleasure of meeting the Mortensen family yesterday to take some photos. It was absolutely STUNNING weather and I was introduced to an awesome park that I will definitely be filing away for future photos.

The other day we adventured to Schwerkolt Cottage with some friends and it just so happened that we were there during golden hour. It was a STUNNING afternoon and I'm so thankful I took my camera with me. I'm also thankful for adorable children and a patient husband who is always willing to sit wherever I tell him to so I can play around with light!

If you're interested in having some natural, fun-filled photos captured, feel free to message me!

First posts are always hard, in my eyes, especially when that first post relates to a new adventure that you're embarking on!

Putting yourself out there, having the courage and confidence to show up and say 'I am here to do the thing, and I enjoy doing the thing!' can be one of the scariest things you ever do. It'll also most likely be one of the most rewarding, that's just how it goes!

So hey! If we haven't met before, my name is Steph. I'm pretty new to the 'photography game' but I love all things light and I love capturing smiles and memories. When I was a kid all I wanted to do was constantly look through photo albums. I remember having so much fun with those old disposable cameras, and random crappy film cameras my parents had lying around. Photography has always been something I loved but never pursued, even as a hobby, until now!

I felt it appropriate to open this page with an acknowledgement/thank you to the human I'm blessed enough to do life with, who consistently tells me I can even if I think I can't! Meet Matt, my super wonderful, kind, caring, hilarious, weird, hot husband (and a blue wall that I also thought was pretty cool... Get it? Haha. I'm hilarious) 😍
