Worried your kid won’t sit still? I’m worried they will!

The magic is in the movement, the belly laughs, the quick cuddles, the “come back to you” moments.

No stiff posing. No pressure. Just gentle direction, plenty of space to be them.

Watching my folks flick through their album, faces lighting up, was such a good reminder of why it’s worth getting photos off your camera roll.

Make an album. Get a few prints done. And if you’re printing at places like Officeworks or Kmart, just know the colour can shift a fair bit depending on the paper and processing, so your photos might not look the way you remember them.

I personally make an annual family album on Blurb and the kids love pulling it out and looking back. I’ve also got framed prints on my wall from .pro.lab.

And if you’ve been meaning to print your photos for ages but it feels like another job on the list, reach out. I’m always happy to share what’s worked for me and make it feel easy.

I’m a rom com lover through and through. Big gestures, dramatic speeches, kissing in the rain and a predictable formula. Love it every time.

But shooting my parents’ 50th made me realise your great looks a little different, almost ordinary.

It’s finding someone you genuinely want to do life with.

Someone you want to walk with.
Garden with.
Drink tea and read the papers with.
Hang washing on the line with.
Sit with at the end of a long day.

Because 50 years is made up of thousands of ordinary moments. And there’s something pretty special about choosing the same person through all of them.

That’s the in-home newborn bubble. Not perfect. Not posed. Just real life, slowed down for a moment. And it’s a real privilege to be welcomed in to photograph it.
