One evening recently I was out walking with my camera inviting something to present itself. I noticed a crescent moon shining through dark clouds and wondered might this be a candidate for one of my Circles of Life. This is the final result … what do you think?

On a sunny autumn morning I noticed the light catching some thin red leaves beautifully contrasted against a dark background. It was a picture begging to be captured. And another ‘Circle of Life’ in the making. Stay tuned for more images like this

‘Reaching Out’ … Another image from my ‘Circles of Life’ series. To me this suggests humanity reaching for something undefined. I have more of these circular images to share with you as I complete them.

I call this ‘Cosmic Energy’, another image from my ‘Circles of Life’ series.

The inspiration for this comes from a belief that there is a life force bigger than us.

The path to creating these gives me a lot of enjoyment and I never quite know what the end result will be.

This is another from my Circles of Life series.

I find after looking at the colours and shapes for a while, I feel a sense of calm … the cool colours, circles, diamonds, triangles all interconnected.

So I’ve decided to call this, ‘Inner Calm’. But maybe someone has a better suggestion … let me know

Due to the enthusiastic reaction to my last post a few days ago, I’ve decided to show you more of what I’ve been creating during the lockdown … my “Circles of Life”.

I’m fascinated by the results and would love to hear what you think of them, especially any suggestions as to appropriate titles.

And stay tuned.

This is my 1st time back on social media for several months, and I’ve got something very different to show you.

For me, photography and art have been a 50 year passion. During the covid lockdown I’ve spent countless hours experimenting with some of my favourite images exploring their potential as circular images. Here’s an example of one that I’m excited about.

Can you guess what the original image may have been?

I’d like to enlist your help to suggest a title … would love to hear your suggestions?

Sunset panorama at Hasfjord Iceland 🇮🇸

During a photoshoot in Iceland we stopped to capture this beautiful sunset at Hasfjord. The scene was wider than my lens could take in with one shot, so I took 3 vertical images and stitched them together. It has become one of my most successful panoramas.

During a photo shoot in Namibia, where lions are a common sight, I noticed this mother Zebra closely guarding her foal. Fortunately I already had a very long lens mounted on my camera, so it was a case of quickly aim and shoot. A tender moment captured.

Canon 5DSR with a
150-600mm stabilised Sigma lens @ 600mm
1/200th second @ f6.3 ISO 100

You can see how well this image works in a children’s room.

I call this ‘Blue Textured Rock’ ...

When I’m out looking for images and surveying what’s around me, I also look down at what I’m standing on. Here I was at Marble Bar standing on this gorgeous textured rock.

The 2nd image shows how it looks in a home environment. The 3rd image is in a corporate location.

I call this ‘High Country Roundup’

It’s one of my all-time favourite images. I’d been asked to shoot a series of images to promote a high country riding school near Mansfield Victoria.

I found this ideal location with its appealing atmosphere and asked the riders to drive the horses through it while I stood safely behind a sturdy fence post.

The backlit dust created the perfect environment.

Congratulations Shaw Tan on winning Best Colour Image at the Rosanna Photo Club's End of Year event.

Best Colour Image of the Year titled ‘Dusk’, won by Shaw Tan at the End of Year club event last Thursday.

Shaw says:

‘Dusk’ was taken on a very dull hazy day in Auckland, New Zealand. I like the solitude of the structure with its hazy background. Then I found a lovely sun rise image I took at Lake Tarrawa in Japan and combined the two together using Photoshop.

Bravo to Shaw for his success.
