I'm putting this post up on behalf of Brodie. For those that know the little fella, he loves his football and he loves the greyhounds. Today those worlds crossed over a little. The young fella plays for the mighty Yarrambat Junior Football Club. Each year the club celebrates an indigenous round with each of the Yarrambat teams wearing a specially designed jumper. Ralph Bamblett, a proud Wiradjuri, Gunditjmara, Bangerang, Wemba Wemba, Taungurong, Ngadjonji Man is the one responsible for this years design. Below are his words on the meaning of the jumper
In my design, I wanted to incorporate the themes and values the Yarrambat Junior Football Club which was Effort, Attitude, Respect, Connection, Community and Friendship.
I went with a more vibrant and loud approach with the colours but still kept the gold and brown. In the Bat design on the wings and the belly I put a lot of weaving pattern to represent the strong connection with players, coaches and people involved with the football club. I’ve also put a weaving pattern in the background.
The Gold/ Yellow stripes, I’ve incorporated designs that represent Journey through the Brown and Tan patterns and Ochre coloured stripes represent Connection with the club, connection with team mates and connection to the Land.
I’ve also incorporated the Yarrambat Football oval and the designs around it represent the community and family coming together to watch and hang around the oval and the red symbols that represent the girls and boys who either play, volunteer or support the football club.
In my design I’ve put a lot of other designs like the weaving pattern on the left brown stripe that represents Connection and Pride, on the right side brown stripe I’ve incorporated little people design that represent the family’s and friends that come to watch and support Yarrambat JFC. Above that design is about how Yarrambat is a Safe Space or a 2nd home for kids to come and play footy and train with their friends and to have fun. The Mountain looking symbols represent respect and also represent challenges you are yet to face but will overcome and the dots around the orange mountain symbols represent your journey through Football and Life.
All these jumpers would not be possible without some wonderful sponsors and Brodie wanted to make specific mention to those who supported his idea to promote the Greyhound Adoption Program VIC by having their logo on the jumpers. A number of greyhound clubs contributed to this sponsorship and a massive thankyou goes out to them.

The boys enjoyed a visit from one of the GAP hounds pre game and finished the day on a winning note by defeating Kilmore by 23 pionts.
