Emotional scenes were not exclusively reserved for the track on Saturday nights GCA National Championships .Off the track, there was a new addition in the Neil Brown Museum, the legendary Fernando Bale (who passed away last November) has been mounted and immortalised. Jan Wheeler was one of the first to see 'Nandy' only 24 hours after he claimed an eighth successive GCA Australian Sire of the Year accolade. That award will now fittingly bear his name at future GCA awards ceremonies. Neil Brown said "He was a phenomenal greyhound, he is greyhound racing's Phar Lap and I always thought he should be immortalised"

For the most part I'm normally clicking away capturing still images, but for some reason following Jan down the stairs last saturday I started videoing the occasion without any idea what I would do with the footage. Well here it is.

On Friday night Greyhound Clubs Australia and Sandown Greyhounds held the 2026 GCA Gala awards at the Hawthorn Arts Centre. With the 2026 nationals theme being Magnifique, the event had a fantastic Moulin Rouge theme.

This year Victoria, more specifically Sandown play host to the 2026 GCA national finals. Industry leaders and members from Australia and overseas have been in town for a few days with a number of conferences, meetings and a symposium held to discuss a wide range of topics involving the industry. On Thursday night Eureka 89 held a meet and greet event for the industry in a more relaxed setting.
