I thought this occy was dead when I found it, until I felt it reach out and touch my thumb while I was inspecting it for the cause. It was paralyzed on the left side of its body, and unable to bury itself.
Before the dive, a local fisherman told us they had caught an octopus on their squid jig, but they put it back because they thought it was one of our rare Double-spot octopus.
Jules Casey watched over and filmed the occy while I went to find a shell... hopefully it survived and I’ll see it again one day. I’ll let you know how it’s doing 🙂

I finally got to see the beautiful Wobbiegong Shark tonight!!! After finishing work, I felt like going for a splash with my dive bud Jules Casey . With 10 bar left in the tank, she flagged me down and said it had been seen. We swam to the area, and the rest is awesome shark history.

This is a strong contender for my Photo of the Year!!!

This symbiotic relationship between argonauts and jellyfish is rarely seen, and this might be the first time argonauta nodosa has been captured on a jelly! This relationship benefits both parties; the argonaut gains protection in the open ocean via the stingers, and the jelly (Lion's Mane Jellyfish) gains speed and covers more ground to feed. As they both have similar prey, the argonaut will guide the jelly to into areas where food is more likely.

I should just make it a rule to always dive on a full moon!!! This is my first argonaut in the wild 😀 it’s an octopus, but the females make a shell! Also got a Bottletail Squid and Spotted Octopus, pretty awesome dive. Full moon.

It's about 10 degrees out there, but it doesn't mean the critters aren't out there putting on a show!
