We were out with St John Ambulance Victoria this morning, filming their first aid training in schools.

It’s the first day of spring, which means more time outdoors, more sport, more adventures and, inevitably, a few more accidents and injuries.

A good reminder that there’s no better time to brush up on your first aid skills.

You never know when you might need them

You wouldn’t guess it, but you are standing with 1000s of Zebrafish in this lab at Deakin Queenscliff Marine Science Centre.
The Zebrafish are bred and studied here because they are a powerful model organism in biomedical research as they share 70% of human genes and 84% of genes associated with human diseases.

Today is World Photography Day! Staying on the theme of National Science Week. This is a series of photos from the total lunar eclipse in July 2018.

Fun facts of the July 2018 event:

Longest total lunar eclipse in the 21st century, approximately 103 minutes.

The second total lunar eclipse in 2018.

The eclipse occurred simultaneously with the perihelic opposition of Mars, a coincidence that happens once every 25,000 years.
