Suddenly I felt very small. As I was walking to Victoria Market yesterday I spotted these two giants towering over me. Seems every time I'm in the city there's something new to discover.

My Zoo Membership was due for renewal this week so, instead of just phoning it through, I decided to treat myself to a visit. We are so lucky to have such an amazing place on our doorstep. While I was there I stopped by the Giant Tortoise enclosure. They make great photo model because they're very good at standing stillπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜„πŸ˜πŸ˜† though they could do with a pedicure and a little more moisturizer 🐒

Amongst the folks on my family tree is my 4th Great Grand Uncle, Robert A Gorell, (1804-1904) who lived in Norfolk, and worked his way up to being one of the early directors of the Norwich Insurance Company so this sign jumped out at me but the eclectic collection of suitcases really tickled my fancy. I love it when modern businesses embrace the nostalgia of the buildings they operate from.

I discovered Chicken & Waffles in Kentucky, where I've enjoyed lots of Southern culinary treats. I had it at my birthday lunch a year ago, in a small family owned restaurant in Western Kentucky. At the time I remember thinking "only in the South" BUT recently I've seen it served up by contestants on MKR and now on several menus here in Melbourne so I'm holding out hope I'll spot "biscuits and gravy" on a menu here sometime soon.

With the City Square not available this year Melbourne's Christmas tree dominates Fed Square and it's a great spot for it. Along with the tree there's a nativity scene, giant ornament and Xmas wreath-arch, all accommodating a constant stream of selfie-takers

An avid genealogist, with a love of history, I've been wanting to visit the Immigration Museum for years. I wasn't disappointed when I finally got there today. The exhibits are interesting, some quite thought provoking and the building is a treasure in itself.

CafΓ© culture is alive and well in Bendigo. Spoilt for choice I opted for a delicious tuna toastie at El Gordo in Chancery Lane, a very eclectic spot and enjoyed the umbrella chandeliers.
