On this particular morning, this individual appeared with a face dusted in vibrant pink pigment—likely a remnant of a nearby cultural offering or festival. It’s a striking reminder of the thin, often colorful line where wild nature and human tradition intersect in the heart of the cultural triangle.

Toque Macaque (Macaca sinica)
Location: Entrance jungle, Sigiriya, Sri Lanka.
