Some days behind the camera stay with you forever.
Today, Benny’s Big Bash was one of those days.

In remembrance of young Ben Austin, a Ferntree Gully cricket prodigy taken far too soon while playing the game he loved, the Waverley Park Hawks Junior Football Club and the Notting Hill Brandon Park Cricket Club came together to honour his life and raise money in his name.

The match itself was full of laughter, competitiveness and genuine mateship, with every player out there being one of Ben’s closest friends. But the heart of the day belonged to Zac, Ben’s little brother, bowling and fielding for both teams, no shoes only socks, a smile on his face, taking wickets and stealing the show in the most beautiful way.

I never knew Ben personally, but through my own love of cricket, I felt a strong connection to him, his family and everyone involved. Cricket has a way of doing that, bringing people together, creating lifelong bonds, and reminding us what really matters.

It was an absolute honour to capture this day from behind the lens. A powerful reminder of community, love, and a legacy that will live on well beyond the boundary.

Three incredible weeks at the Australian Open with Tennis Australia 📸🎾

An unforgettable experience working alongside a team of 20+ incredibly talented photographers and editors from around the country, covering everything from qualifying and opening week right through to the finals. Men’s and women’s draws, juniors, doubles and wheelchair events — non-stop, wall-to-wall tennis.

From behind the lens, I was lucky enough to witness some truly special moments. Watching history unfold as Carlos Alcaraz claimed his first career Grand Slam at just 22. Spending a few quiet hours photographing Rafa Nadal in what was his first appearance on the famous AO blue courts since retirement. Photographing Mananchaya Sawangkaew (THA) in her Grand Slam debut, and being present for that powerful moment when the entire arena rose to its feet to applaud her fight and determination — one of those moments you feel as much as you photograph.

It was challenging. The hours were long, the temperatures were hot and the expectations were high — but it also pushed me creatively. Trying new techniques, experimenting, and really leaning into the craft in an environment that demands your best every single day.

Some personal highlights too — catching up with my beautiful niece Layla and her partner, who I don’t get to see nearly enough, and being able to play a small part in giving Craig Dooley the opportunity to shoot some AO action. I’ve known Craig for a few years and followed his work since he first entered the Footy Focus competition. When an opportunity came up at the Open, Craig put his hand up, got thrown in the deep end, and absolutely smashed everything we sent his way. Seeing someone who has put so much time and effort into improving their photography finally get a chance on the big stage — and rise to it — was incredibly rewarding, and I couldn’t be prouder.

So grateful to be part of one of the world’s greatest sporting events, and to do it alongside such an incredible group of people — many not just colleagues, but great friends — while also meeting so many new faces along the way. One I’ll definitely remember, and I already can’t wait for the next one. 🙌

AO26: Day 10 courtside at Melbourne Park 📸 Started with some fast-paced doubles action, highlighted by a win for Aussie duo Daria Kasatkina and Arina Rodionova. The night session on Rod Laver Arena delivered plenty of drama, with Australia’s favourite demon and world No.6 Alex de Minaur grinding out a gritty, rain-affected four-set win over Hamad Medjedovic. Centre court wrapped up with Priscilla Hon 🇦🇺 and Iva Jovic 🇺🇸, where Jovic cruised through in straight sets. 🎾

Last night I had the privilege of photographing the Collingwood Football Club Hall of Fame event for the Collingwood Football Club, an evening dedicated to honouring some of the greats who helped shape the black and white.

Congratulations to the newest Hall of Fame inductees Dane Swan, Ross ‘Twiggy’ Dunne and Leigh Matthews. A fitting celebration of three icons whose impact on the game will be remembered for generations.

It was an incredible experience to be in a room filled with so many Collingwood legends with the likes of Wayne Richardson, Peter McKenna, Gavin Crosisca, Tony Shaw, Barry Price and many more. Having some of my childhood favourites like Alan Didak, Anthony Rocca, Chris Tarrant, Ben Johnson and Nathan Buckley in the room made the experience even more memorable.

A huge thank you to the Club for having me. Nights like these are always a privilege to capture. 📸✨
