🌊🎸 Sometimes the shots that look the simplest are the hardest to create.

For Martin Cilia's track Rising Surf, we had a vision of a guitar emerging from the ocean as if it had been carried in by the waves themselves.

The reality? It was a little more complicated.

Our first attempt involved one of our crew members buried beneath the surf, trying to lift the guitar out of the water at just the right moment. Between the waves, the sand, and trying not to drown the guitar, let's just say it didn't quite go to plan.

Next, we tried recreating the effect in a swimming pool, thinking we could control the conditions a little better. While it got us closer, it still wasn't delivering the cinematic look we were chasing.

In the end, we combined practical filming with visual effects and compositing to create the final shot. It took a few failed attempts, plenty of laughs, and a bit of movie magic, but we're stoked with how it turned out.

That's one of the things we love about filmmaking—sometimes the challenge behind the camera becomes just as memorable as the final result.
