Some news that means a lot to me personally.

Two framed prints of mine have just gone up in H2 East at Robina Hospital, which serves the Acute Cognitive Unit and Acute Geriatric Unit, along with a wall mural in the Renal Unit.

Here's why this one feels different. My photography career started after a surfing accident at Kirra Beach that put me in hospital myself. Seeing my work now hanging in a hospital, in wards like the ones I once spent time in, feels like a full circle moment I didn't see coming when I first picked up a camera.

If it helps someone get through a long day a little easier, that's exactly what I hoped for.

It’s been a while since I’ve photographed underwater waves like this.

To be honest, I still haven’t captured one that I’m absolutely pumped about. Maybe I’m searching for perfection in something that is perfectly imperfect. That’s the beauty of nature, every wave is unique, unpredictable and different in its own way.

Either way, it’s the adventure of chasing that elusive shot that keeps me coming back. Searching, experimenting and exploring, even when the adventure is right here in my own backyard.

I’ll be honest, I nearly didn’t make it out of bed for this one.

4am alarm set, gear packed the night before, and somehow I still managed to turn it off and almost miss it. After years of chasing sunrises and waves, you’d think I’d have that part sorted by now.

But this morning made it worth it.

After heading out from Currumbin and making the run south, Kirra started to come alive. The sets were slow to begin with, but when they came through, the whole scene lit up.

Perfect lines, golden light, and those clean backlit waves that only show up when everything aligns.

This image is called Coolangatta Gold.

I’ll be honest, I nearly didn’t make it out of bed for this one.

4am alarm set, gear packed the night before, and somehow I still managed to turn it off and almost miss it. After years of chasing sunrises and waves, you’d think I’d have that part sorted by now.

But this morning made it worth it.

I almost got the shot I was chasing… almost.

Sure, I could’ve dropped a seagull right into the centre in Photoshop… but where’s the fun in that?

When I woke up and saw a clean horizon, I knew exactly what I wanted. No clouds, no distractions. Just a pure silhouette moment.

The goal was simple. Seagulls cutting through the sun.

Pretty close, if you ask me.
Only thing… those four birds aren’t quite as sharp as I’d hoped.

But hey, that’s photography. You don’t always get perfect… you just get closer each time.
