I still remember when Brett Burcher asked me to come to South Africa to document his surf trip.

I kind of hesitated, Africa had always seemed so wild (can confirm it is ๐Ÿ˜‚) but I said yes and expected a surf trip with a few sightseeing spots along the way.

What I experienced was so much more than I could have imagined.

We scored waves, ate like kings, hung with the locals, experienced a South African Braai (bbq), hired a car and experienced the wild coast (if you have ever stayed at Ottoโ€™s, itโ€™s even wilder ๐Ÿ˜„) almost had our accommodations roof blow off the house, witnessed multiple dead bodies on the side of the road, looked into a lions eyes from metres away, told to not stop in certain towns to then forget what those towns were and needed to stop to get petrol ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ and the list goes on.

Itโ€™s a place I thought I probably would have been back to by now but the years pass by and closer destinations take priority when you have a young family.

I reminisce on this trip and remember the great times we all experienced. One for the books

Thank you South Africa ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

It almost feels like cheating looking back at these crops ๐Ÿ˜†

While some images deserve to be un-cropped, some images transform into much better images when the crop is worked around the features of the subject.

Whatโ€™s your thoughts, did some of these surprise you on how much they had been cropped?

Iโ€™d never laid an edit on this until last night when I was making the reel on the Fujifilm 56mm f1.2

Now that I look at it, itโ€™s beginning to become more of a favourite of mine. Crazy to think it was just sitting on my hard drive and hadnโ€™t even made it to the edit bay!

Whatโ€™s your thoughts on this one?

The far south coast of nsw has some of the most interesting (and unforgiving ๐Ÿ˜†) rock formations Iโ€™ve ever seen.

Iโ€™ve had the pleasure of shooting in that region a few times and I always seem to come away with some great compositions.

Whatโ€™s your favourite rock formation region?
