Tahlia & Harry, 18 april 2026 // WHAT A DAY!!! ❤️🔥
they decided to do a first look before the ceremony, so we could get most of their photos done early and they had more time to actually enjoy cocktail hour, be with their friends and fam, and just be present in the day 🤍
it was one of those sunny, perfect days… but at around 2pm, the sun is high which can be a bit harsh, and that kind of light creates stronger shadows (under the eyes, nose, chin, etc) and can make an image feel veeerrry contrasty and not the most flattering if you don’t know how to work with it.
and that’s the thing… being a photographer isn’t just clicking a button.
it’s understanding light, angles, and how to use them in a way that actually elevates the image.
when i first started, i used to be so scared of anything that wasn’t soft sunset light 😭 but over time, i’ve learned how to work with all kinds of lighting and now i genuinely love it.
a lot of the time i’ll use flash to soften those shadows, make the subject pop, and keep everything well exposed ✨
i think it gives photos that slightly bolder, more editorial feel. definitely an approach i tend to lean towards (alongside documentary of course. both can coexist, trust me!) 🤍
