Peter Harrison Airphoto Peter Harrison is an International Award-winning Photographer and
Commercial Pilot, based in Lake Macquarie NSW. My aircraft is a Cessna Cardinal 177RG.

Piloting his Cessna aircraft to the most remote areas of Australia, Peter
has created a stunning series of Aerial Photographs. A Professional Photographer and Commercial Pilot, based in Lake Macquarie NSW, Australia, I have been fortunate enough to combine and pursue two of my great passions, flying and photography. With over 40 years flying experience I have had the great pleasure to fly to many

of the most incredible and remote areas of Australia. A high wing, with retractable undercarriage and no struts to interfere with the view, this amazing aircraft is ideal for aerial photography. From outback dirt strips like the Burke and Wills 'Dig Tree' site (as pictured above) to international airports and the complexity of controlled airspace, no place is inaccessible with this aircraft. I began shooting aerials in 1992 with a Pentax 6x7 medium format film camera. In those days you never quite knew what you had until a week later, after the lab had processed your images. It certainly taught you to expose correctly and shoot selectively, as every shot cost you a dollar. So different to today's digital environment. My camera these days is a digital Pentax 645Z and I am constantly amazed at the quality produced by this camera. I still however find myself shooting very selectively. Old habits die hard. A love affair with the sky and the rugged Australian landscape is the pulse behind every shutter release. My lens captures more than scenery. My purpose is to capture feelings, emotions and stories. My need is as infinite as the sky - a commitment to bring the untouched beauty of Australia into the hearts and homes of those who seek the wonder of the world from a different perspective. The images are emblems of history, beauty and reality, capturing the pulse of the land amidst global change. The images share their own story with us, uniquely and individually. They evoke emotion a little differently in all of us. Ultimately, I love sharing the joy in what I get to see from above. This is an open invitation to join me on this journey, to experience the awe and to commit to the responsibility to cherish and protect these wild spaces. My aim is to provide more than decoration. My goal is to provide enlightenment, a change of perception and a commitment to the environment.

Red mud farming! The process of dealing with the massive waste from aluminium refining. The cost of modern life on the environment. Progress is being made in turning this wasteland into a viable habitat for plants and eventually animals.

This is one of those moments I'll never forget. A chance encounter that changed the way I look at things.

In 2019 while planning a flight with my wife Tania to Central Australia, I felt a growing urge to connect with the land and its stories. I didn’t want to simply photograph the landscape from above; I wanted to feel in sync with the spirit of the country we were about to fly over. So I immersed mys...

After the flood! The Channel Country in outback Queensland is experiencing one of the largest floods in recent decades causing devastation to livestock, farmers and small towns.
The silver lining is that once the flood clears and makes its way to Kati Thanda/Lake Eyre the Channel Country will undergo an amazing transformation. From the air it is truly one of the natural wonders of the world.
