Apparently I’m required to stay home and be counted…
Meanwhile our fur baby is sitting there like,
“Mate, I should be counted first — clearly the most important resident in this household.”
Honestly, I’d rather be out creating portraits than filling in government forms.
But here I am, stuck at home, while this majestic little goblin is giving me the, “Why aren’t you photographing me right now?” face.
If your pet has a personality loud enough to interrupt census night, they probably deserve their own portrait too.

Over the next few weeks I’ll be sharing a series of Before/After transformations from my recent work with Newcastle Dance Academy — beginning with a finished hero piece that reflects the depth and detail behind creating imagery for a live fine‑arts production.

This artwork goes beyond a single captured moment. It’s built to represent the complexity of a performance that blends dancers, orchestra, choreography, and musical direction into one cohesive experience.

By combining studio‑photographed dance silhouettes with the first system of sheet music from the on‑stage production, the image becomes a realistic visual interpretation of how movement and music interact. The dancers appear to engage directly with the score, echoing the way choreography responds to rhythm, phrasing, and musical texture during a live performance.

And we continue to celebrate the amazing little stars who step in front of our camera.

Meet our second and upcoming star: Miss Luna

A beautiful calico domestic shorthair with classic tri‑colour markings and a big personality.

Luna loves protecting her humans (though I suspect it’s mostly for her own benefit), exploring new spaces and, of course, sleeping. Her true speciality is finding the perfect sunny or warm spot on a cool winter’s day for a well‑earned nap.

She’s also one of the co‑stars of our new brochure. Curious, expressive and full of character — Luna was an absolute pleasure to photograph in the studio.
