When two of my favourite worlds collide in the best way, maternity + branding.

Reve Botanical Oil, the dreamiest coastal light, specifically the Glimmer Body Oil doing exactly what it was made to do, and the gorgeous Shayla bringing it all together.

Turns out a growing belly and glowy body oil are a pretty bloody good pairing.

Brand photos don’t have to look like brand photos.

Sofielle is named after her children, so it never made sense to photograph the business without the life behind it.

The brief was natural, effortless and authentic beautiful imagery for the brand, but still completely her. Her kids. Her pieces. The little moments in between.

Because sometimes the story of what you’re building is just as important as what you’re selling.

And this is very much the kind of brand photography I want to make more of.

Women doing cool things, with a story worth telling.

This was apparently my year of spending a little less time behind the scenes and getting out of my comfort zone a bit more.
So alongside the speaking gig I somehow agreed to, I also decided, with a fairly solid push from a friend, to run my first photographer workshop.
Am I sh****ng myself? Absolutely.
Am I still doing it? Also absolutely.
After 20 years of photographing people, I’m opening up my brain a little and pulling apart some of the things I do now without even consciously thinking about them.
And no, it’s not really a posing class.
We’ll absolutely talk about posing, but I’m much more interested in everything that happens around the pose.
Reading the person in front of you. Seeing tension before it ruins the photograph. Knowing what to say when someone freezes. Creating movement that doesn’t feel forced. Making tiny adjustments. Knowing when something isn’t working, and what to change instead of just cycling through another pose.
Because you can know 100 poses and still have absolutely no idea what to do when the person standing in front of you doesn’t fit the picture you had in your head.
My own work spans weddings, families, branding and bo***ir, but this isn’t genre-specific.
This first one is a small pilot, so I’m keeping it intentionally intimate, practical and conversational. OH AND DID I MENTION THERE’S 4 SPOTS LEFT!?
Friday 23 October · AM
Newcastle · half day + lunch
$199 pilot price
DM me WORKSHOP and I’ll send you the details.

Oh August. It’s been and gone! Loved being busy, not featured: bo***ir clients who are 🤫, soccer last games and presentations, book week, school fun, screenshots of all kinds of useless s**t I won’t look at again, and just general life. Here’s to Spring 🥂

Photographing another photographer is always slightly terrifying 😂
Especially when that photographer is Michelle Little Kite Photography who creates beautiful work herself.
She came along to one of our Brand Presence shoots and honestly, I loved photographing her. I loved what we made, I loved seeing her on the other side of the camera… she has the most beautiful clear blue eyes and lovely dimples! Then this voicemail transcript landed in my msgs. (Scroll to the end)
“It took my breath away, which we don’t normally say about ourselves.”
🥹
There’s something pretty bloody lovely about making someone who spends her life creating beautiful photographs for everyone else look at a photograph of herself and feel that.
And yep. The voicemail is 100% real. 😂

I was invited into this very gorg pink dream set up by Daisy Belle l Newcastle Branding Photographer of Solfina Studio - Newcastle Photography Studio with Ivy Laidler with ethereal makeup by 𝘾𝘼𝙇𝙀𝘽 𝙂𝙊𝘿𝘿𝘼𝙍𝘿 - 𝙈𝙐𝘼 last week and I was so in love with the concept. Something very different but have to say, I am definitely up for doing more creative shoots to just play and try some things I wouldn’t usually have time for on a real client shoot 🌸💖

Studio? Absolutely.
Outside? Also absolutely.
Because branding has never been one size fits all.
Where we shoot depends on your brand, your messaging, what content you’re creating and what you actually need those images to do.
Sometimes that calls for a chic studio, beautiful light and an editorial edge.
Sometimes we need streets, movement, texture, sunlight and a little real life.
And sometimes, why can’t we have both? 🌮 (IYKYK)
For Court, in the middle of a brand transformation, she wanted movement, colour and fun, photographing her with a client and on her own, both in studio and out.

I look at your brand language, your upcoming content plans and where your images need to show up, then build the shoot around that.
Because a branding shoot shouldn’t just give you a gallery of great photos.
It should give you the right images for your brand and plenty of ways to actually use them.
