Well, I said when I left for Cairns I wanted a photo of a Black Butcherbird. I'm still unsure who the disembodied limb belonged to. Any thoughts?

I look at this forest in Kyoto and I desperately want to go back and spend hours photographing the way the light filters...

I look at this forest in Kyoto and I desperately want to go back and spend hours photographing the way the light filters through the trees and that made me stop and think - I want to look at the bush here with those same fresh, unknowing eyes. So thats my next goal. Wander the bush in different light and channel that same wonder.

The bush here is no less beautiful - I just see it everyday.

One of my favourite things when visiting Kyoto is the ability to be in places like this then walk back down to the road ...

One of my favourite things when visiting Kyoto is the ability to be in places like this then walk back down to the road and be a 10 min drive from the city center. Its wild and I love it. I miss Kyoto often.

Bar-breasted Honeyeater - a new bird for me, having never seen one before. I've recently discovered a spot in a freshwater creek where the birds seem quite happy to go about their life in quite close proximity to me. For this photo I was sitting in the water with camera on tripod and the bird landed on a little perch about 3 meters max from me. It didn't even mind when I picked up the camera, tripod hanging off to take a photo from a better angle.

I thought I'd give you a break from my snow obsession and bring you back to the warm tropics. It's currently entering the rainy season which means we're in a time we call "Mango Madness". It's when all the mangos are booming and people are so hot and drowned in humidity they are, well, pretty mad.

This image was taken at Galuru (East Woody beach). The morning sea breeze feeling like paradise and making us all, for a moment, entirely forget just how hot we were about to be... The sun rises fast and with it, the temperature.
