A few moments from the last month and a bit.

Some people find it hard to believe, but you can very clearly see the CBD of Sydney from Norah Head. Here is a quick glimpse from an elevated point at Gravelly Beach last Saturday night.

Obviously the curvature of the earth makes the city look like it’s swimming in the ocean. The higher up an observer is, the further away the horizon is (in this case the CBD is 73km away). At sea level, you can only see 4.7 km away.
