Yesterday, I received a message from a client whose photos I took many years ago. They were hoping I still had the images because someone in those photographs had since passed away.

Sadly, this isn’t the first time I’ve received a request like this. Over the years, I’ve been asked more often than I’d like to search through old archives for photographs that have become far more valuable than anyone could have imagined when they were taken.

This time was different, though.

As I looked through the images, I found myself staring at the face of a young man whose life had ended far too soon. For some reason, his photograph stayed with me. Long after I closed the files, I kept thinking about him, about the people who loved him, and about how quickly our time here passes.

I took some time out of my day just to reflect. To think about life. To think about how brief our existence is when measured against the age of the universe, and yet how rich and meaningful it can be while we’re here.

As I’ve gotten older, I’m learning lessons I wish I’d understood when I was younger. That time is the one thing we can never get back. That the moments we rush through often become the ones we miss the most. That photographs aren’t really about cameras or poses or perfect light, they’re about preserving pieces of lives that can never be repeated.

The world has changed so much over the years and continues to change every day. Not always for the better. We move faster, pay less attention, and spend more time looking ahead than appreciating where we are.

Yesterday reminded me that life isn’t found in the big milestones alone. It’s in the ordinary days, the conversations, the smiles, the people sitting beside us right now.

Hold your loved ones close. Take the photo. Make the call. Be present.

Because one day, a picture may become one of the most precious things someone owns.

Life is short. Beautifully, heartbreakingly short.

Let’s not waste a moment of it.

I recently was a guest at my nephews wedding. I wasn't the photographer but had permission to "take photos of whatever you like" .....well one of the moments that's my absolute favorite when capturing a wedding is when the Groom sees the Bride.

I cried a great deal at this wedding, it was just so full of love and this moment was so so special!!!!

My nephew seeing his soon to be wife, and with his dad beside him as Best Man!

Magic ✨
