Great weekend spent at Photowest 2023 hosted by NEPG Always enjoy listening to Mark Brierley and Alex Cearns… highlight was meeting, listening to and being a light assistant for (def adding to the resume!) the wonderful Forough Yavari 👌🏼😁
Talk about knowing your craft. We were enthralled with the highest of end fashion/fine-art portraiture with packaging material and wrapping paper 😳. Amazing to meet the artist behind images you’ve followed in awe for many, many years… and one of the most humble.
Thanks to NEPG for the invite to speak and host workshops; to Ben, Mike and Team Digital and Matt, Tony and PROtog for the support and general hang time… and a huge thanks to Chiharu for agreeing to sit for the portrait workshop this morning - expanding the groups knowledge on Kendo (Chiharu is WA’s only 7th Dan)and Kyudo (Japanese Archery). Full of strength, movement and grace.

The BioCommunications Association is a US based international association for crew working in the biological communications field - ie medical photography, videography, graphic design, multimedia etc.
BCA hold an annual BioImages visual media competition, featuring some pretty stunning work ranging from the pure (and VERY detailed) clinical image; to 3D animation; to the most beautiful microscopic images (the medical equivalent to the aerial landscape!).
Entered for the first time this year with some fine art portraits featuring hospital related subjects or images from my series featuring historical objects/equipment from the RPH Museum.
Stoked to come away with the Premier Award in the ‘Still Image Division | Personal Work’ with this image of the maestro himself , Mr - titled “Señor Lopez” - with a few other images receiving Images of Merit 👍🏼

Was also lucky to pick up an Award of Excellence in the Multimedia Division for the short film “Time Travel in the ED” - a collaboration with Prof Daniel Fatovich, Emergency Physician.

Had the pleasure a couple of weeks ago of hosting a portrait workshop with the Advanced Diploma Photography students at - thanks to 🤙🏼
Some shooting and editing, followed by looking through some awesome Exhibition work - can’t wait to see the work up on the walls!!
Huge thanks to legend .sell.photographer for jumping up with enthusiasm to model some random props from the RPH Museum - pretty stoked with the result…

This Legend opened a new studio space in South Perth -
Beautiful little space, perfect for portraits, still life, food and more… kitchen downstairs and bright office space upstairs. Lighting available too 🤙🏼

The resulting quick studio lighting shoot and edits from the Manjimup Portrait Workshop last weekend... featuring .corbett.design.photography as lighting test subject ; ) - and some of the crew who attended the workshop.

It's been a week since heading back down to Manjimup with legend offsider .corbett.design.photography to host a natural light and studio portrait workshop in collaboration with the Southern Forests Photography Club and the - in conjunction with the last day of the Depth of Field: Exploring Minds, Hearts and Voice Exhibition.
It was a fresh morning (understatement!), but the sun was out (as pre-ordered by organiser ; ) and we found some awesome spots throughout the Manjimup Heritage Park to practice shooting portraits in all sorts of light. A highlight for me was seeing the kids who came along shooting... Georgia, Harrison .harrison and Jade all had a natural eye for composition. Special thanks to Harley and Abby for modelling for us - we promised we'd all be there for their wedding in November as wedding photographers.
Then back to the Art Gallery for an afternoon of simple studio lighting setups with some editing and printing. Thanks to those brave enough to sit for a portrait during the session!

A huge thanks to Bruce Williams and , Kym Peacock and .r.kennedyimaging & Ben Walton and for your continued support, equipment and especially the giveaways. Everyone left with a huge smile on their face : )
